Author: Irish Political Status Committee
Subject: Irish Justice Ministry lie about Noel Maguire!

During the past 24 hours Irish political prisoner Noel Maguire (in Full Sutton Prison England) has been notified by the Minister for Justice and Law Reform Michael McDowell TD - that the reason for his refusal to agree to repatriate Noel is because in his view Noel - "hasn't sufficient relatives living in the 26 Counties to warrant repatriation."
We know that to be a blatant lie. Noel has a wife and two children living no more than an hours drive from Portlaoise
Prison - who are willing to visit him should he be repatriated. Noel's wife has made that clear on more than one occasion in recent months - to the representatives of the Ministry who have called on her.
Noel also has a brother and two sisters living in Ireland - and uncles and aunts - who are eager to visit should his repatriation be agreed. Noel has NO relatives living in UK.
Could it be Noel is now being held as some kind of political hostage? It would seem so. He has all the credentials and qualifications under European Union legislation to avail of the agreement that enables nationals from any EU state to be repatriated to country of origin.
Noel is from Co Fermanagh - a county that's part of the 32 counties of Ireland. He holds a valid Irish passport (issued in Dublin in 1999). In other words he is a bona fide Irish citizen.
If Noel is being denied repatriation on the grounds he's from 'Northern Ireland' and not the 'Irish Republic' - then the man from the ministry is in essence saying the Irish government recognises unequivocaly Britain's right to ownership of part of 'Ireland' - namely the 6 Counties.
Minister McDowell needs to make the position clear regarding the nationality of people who are born in the occupied part of Ireland and those born in the (un)Free State.
Written in the Irish Constitution it is claimed the 'people of Ireland are cherished equally' !
Could it be some are more equal than others?
