Subject: Thanks Mom!

So true that Christmas day was long for all,
Hurry, hurry! No time to stall!
So many places we all had to be,
Shawn and Allyson with so much family to see.
Billy made it up from our neighbor to the south,
only to get lime jelly stuck in his mouth!
Laura had to get Ian on a late airport run,
All in all we settled in for some fun.

Our host Anne was worthy of a toast,
Her spread featured food from each coast to coast!
There was crab dip, nuts, vegies and more,
A true feast, seen only in lore.

It started with California salad from Kerry,
a true indication this Christmas would indeed be merry.
Next came Mary's veggies and Shawn's potato's from the south,
Add Mom's meat and rice and you get a true treat for the mouth!
Lest we forget we had wine throughout the night,
The combination from Kerry, Anne, and Geoff was just right!

We retired from the table, all in need of a break,
It was too soon for more, especially for cake!
We took the time to exchange many a gift,
Oh! Could our spirits stand another lift?
Many fine clothes made their way around,
Candles and wine and photo frames abound!

Before we went for desert Mary distributed the electric maze,
Who knew a few years ago she'd start such a craze?
Sure she reused last years little poem,
still the breezeway Anne had to comb.

Finally we got to enjoy Laura's Boston Creme pie,
All we could say was oh my, oh my!
Next the newbies were introduced to the Stever's game,
Dare they scoff, and call it lame?
They participated in our ritual with quite a zest,
though poor Billy lost the lime jelly contest.

So thanks to Grandma, Laura, Ian, Geoff, and Mary,
to Kay, Karen, Billy, Allyson, Shawn and Kerry.
Anne was such a wonderful host,
I feel obliged to offer this toast:
Speaking for all of us I feel safe to say,
Thanks for everything, hooray, horray!!
