Hi Cynthia,

I too just got coerced into getting a membership from them just yesterday 29 Dec 2003. I realised all the clauses that u just mentioned and it seems pretty unfair to the Purchaser. i refused to join when they told me i should pay $5000+ upfront and they actually reduced the amount to $3500 and when i said i didn't want to join still cos i couldn't afford $3500 upfront, they further reduced it to $2000 and they even swiped my card for the $2k even b4 i consented!!! During the presentation or talk the consultant did not even mention that the RCI privilege is only for 3 years and subsequently i have to pay a yearly amount of $125 if i still choose to subscribe with RCI...Only found out about this one when i went up to the office to enquire about it today (30 Dec 2003). i really feel that the whole thing is a scam.

I totally understand how u feel. The Customer Service Officer told me today that if i were to cancel the contract, i would have to lodge a complaint at CASE and obtain a directive from CASE within 5 days from the date of purchase to cancel the contract but the $2k deposit will be forfeited. The other alternative he told me is that i could go take legal action against them in which case i will definitely lose. I will b going to CASE tomorrow morning (31 Dec 2003) to check if this is true and if this cancellation can be done as claimed.

I shall update u (if u still keep track of these postings) after that. Meanwhile enjoy your New Year Eve...Can't let these Con-Artiste spoil the New Year rite? Keep the Faith Cynthia!!!

Meishan
