My husband was the one who signed up with ERI since February 1998. He was called up by ERI that he had won a free ticket to Australia. Nonetheless, he was required to attend a talk organised by ERI. At the presentation in ERI, my husband was told that currently ERI was having a promotion of membership in Karimun Resort and that he can use the free ticket which cost about S$1,200 to offset the membership fees if he purchased on the spots. My husband was pressured into buying the membership cost S$14,000 after 5 hours of presentation. The membership of Karimun Resort bearing membership number KBRGC239/98 that was launching at that moment with a price of S$12,800 after offset the price of the free air-ticket. The Karimun Resort contract stated that the usage was classified under "1 week-red". My husband was so foolish to believe that the membership is non-depreciative and is worth for investment. Therefore, he has made a S$1,000 down payment on the spots then paid the outstanding amount by instalment. The instalment was then completed in August 2003. But unfortunately at that time, there was no cooling period of 3 days indicated in the contract.

Sometime around August 1998, my husband was informed by ERI that the company wanted to upgrade the membership to a Australia Resort for free as the Karimun project was aborted. Again, my husband had been cheated by ERI that all the terms and conditions remain the same as in the Karimun contracts. He then signed the contracts without really gone through the contracts as he was rushing for another appointment and the Sales Representative has promised him that all details remained the same as the previous contracts.

After our wedding, my husband would like to include my name in this membership thus we met up Mr. Gabriel Tan then to our surprised, the holiday period was transformed from "1 week a year" to "1 week alternate year". The new membership was under the H.C. Asia Pacific Pte Ltd bearing the membership number HCG. 1253T/98. We were very upset and confronted Mr. Gabriel Tan how could it happened. But according to Mr. Gabriel Tan is was too bad that my husband has singed on the dotted line. However, Mr. Gabriel Tan agreed to include my name in this membership free of charge. Unluckily, during that time, the person who is in-charge is off duty on that day and therefore, Mr. Gabriel Tan told us that he would fix a date for us to visit ERI to process the documentations.

My husband also understand from one of the agent which handling these membership re-selling stated that the same type of membership which bought from ERI, only a month later from the date my husband purchased cost about S$4,000 different i.e. only S$8,000. That's why we felt so much cheated by such irresponsible company.

To make the matter worst, Mr. Gabriel Tan not calling my husband where he promised to fix a date to include my name in my husband membership. In end of June 2004, my husband received a call from ERI congratulated him that he was one of the luckiest member to receive a free Olympus Digital Camera but required my husband to personally collect the prize. So my husband and myself were again went down to ERI thinking that to meet up with Mr. Gabriel Tan and at the same time include my name in this membership. On 2 July 2004, my husband and I met up with ERI Senior Sales Manager, Ms. Fiona and Sales Representative, Ms. Karen who were so friendly to entertain us by asking us to feedback the services we received from ERI. But in the end of the meeting, Ms. Karen told us to consider to upgrade our membership to another better membership where we are not require to pay maintenance cost but we need to trade-in our H.C. Asia Pacific membership and pay another S$5,000.00.

This new membership allow us to enjoy the facilities offered by "ICE Gallery" Private Resort and Cruise Club. Then this membership is the kind of cash back, if the members never utilise their 1 week holiday period, S$500.00 will be giving to members. However, members are compulsory to pay for the subscription fee of S$250 each year for RCI member's card and S$150 alternate year for ERI member's card and S$250.00 alternate year for ICE Gallery member's card if I remember correctly.

Upon hearing of all this terms and conditions, my husband refuse to pay for any additional monies to upgrade the membership and we requested to speak to Mr. Gabriel Tan. Then suddenly Ms. Fiona and Ms. Karen were very unhappy and walked out the room without smile. Then one of the Customer Service Officer, Mr. Moris Chua approaching us and telling us that Mr. Gabriel Tan is not in the office. Hence, we told him why we wanted to see Mr. Gabriel Tan. To our surprise, Mr. Moris Chua told us that we have to pay S$800 administration fees in order to include my name in this membership. Again, we were totally disappointed with the way how ERI treated theirs members.

Therefore, we are now looking for all options including legal actions to resolve this matter.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Hi!
My husband and I owned one ERI membership too. We signed up last June 2003. And our friend told her that he is in another one of this similar resort thingy. Now both my husband and I are deciding if we should stop everything. Does anyone has any experience in terminating the contract or what do you think i should do?
