] Date Posted: Tue, Nov 09 2004, 6:17:58 It saddens me to read the accounts of all ye victims. There are many very bad people and companies out there like any other business; especially lucrative and new types. That doesn't mean that all timeshare is bad. There are the frauds and the fools/greedy. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH!! There are deals out there for a certain lifestyle and for the wise and savy. Here is my opinion: BUYER BEWARE! CHECK!CHECK AND CHECK! READ!READ! AND READ; BEFORE SIGNING ON THE DOTED LINE. I need to know every detail. The first thing is a wayout if things don't go right. Is this a legal way and is it spelled out clearly in the paper I sign? Don't be greedy, never be pressured as it is my hard earned money. I am in the driver's seat. This is true of all business deals. Buying timeshare is a business deal. I settled in the USA in 1973 from Malaysia. I bought my 1st timeshare in Matzalan in the eighties. My second in Cancun(hold title) and my third, last year in Welks Resort-California (hold title). Currently, I am in escrow on an apartment in a timeshare complex in Tenerif-Canary Island. I have no regrets on any of the above purchases. My life style allows me to make use of them and they are all deals for me. I have several friends and collegue who own timeshare around the world. They are very happy and find it a deal. I also have friends who are members of club-med (the first holiday club) and are happy. We are with RCI.com and IntervalWorld.com. These are membership/vacation clubs which help us manage/exchange our timeshare. You need to own a timeshare that they recognise first. They have been in business since the eighties. The membership fee is very low. Check them out. My sister also have timeshare in UK and they are happy. If anyone wants to share thoughts with me I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge and ability. I don't give advice as there can be a legal issue. I am not working for any timeshare or vacation company. I just own timeshare and love them all these 20 years. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

BUT...ALL THE TIMESHARES TOUTING ON SINGAPORE STREETS ARE ILLEGAL AND ALL OF THEM ARE SCAMS! Having your money sucked for 30 years or more is NOT A GOOD DEAL! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
[> Subject: Time Share Dubious marketing tactics | |
Author: Kelvin [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: Tue, Nov 16 2004, 16:49:24 I do not disagree that there is some goodness in the concept of Time Share. But it is not for everyone, contrary to what the Time Share marketers are telling you. The problem here in Singapore is compounded by the dubious marketing tactics. If you really have a good product do you have to deceive people - (1) to attend a presentation with no mention of Time Share made during the invitation and using baits like "you have won a prize", etc, etc, Why can't they just be upfront about what they are selling? (2) by making false promises? e.g. telling you the annual maintenance fee increased should be minimal, or there is no problem reselling the time share once you don't need them. (3)use pressure techniques to get people to sign up and then use bully tactics (e.g. legal threats) when people starts to feel uneasy about what they purchased? (4) by using innocent school children who obviously knows nothing about what they are selling to attend the talk? And for most people like me, I do not agree that it is greed that made us purchase such program. At least for me, I do not expect it to appreciate so that I can sell it at a profit. I just want to have a nice enjoyable and holiday. Yes, there is no free lunch and yes I am prepared to pay price (i paid $19K for mine), but not at the expense of having being deceived again and again at the end of day.
