] Date Posted: Mon, Nov 29 2004, 23:53:59 Hi, I have signed up with Star resorts for MTC membership in July 2004 and have already paid about S$5k (deposit and 4 months of installment) to the company. Similar to other victims, i was "persuaded" for more than 4 hours to sign up and at the end, i wasn't really thinking straight. Thinking back now, i'm really stupid and naive to fall for their scam. After reading about all the bad experiences with timeshares, i'm afraid the same thing will happen to me when fully paid for the package, as in maintenance fee will increase without notice, unable to book the holidays, asking for more $$$ to re-sell the membership, etc. If that's most likely the case, i want to stop my payments now rather than losing the total amount (S$9k) when fully paid up plus the yearly maintenance fee. Can anybody advise me on the options to terminate/void the contract? Can i just write to the company, indicating my decision to terminate the contract? Will i be sued? Does anybody have encounters with Star resorts, located opp bras basah complex? From the forum, i see that most of the bad experiences are with ERI and LGM.
