In reply to: Mike Poh 's message, "Jue Shi Marketing Pte. Ltd." on Tue, May 24 2005, 12:26:34

Received a similar call from this Chandra chap offering the same windfall deal as described by 'Lucky 'above. He seemed to have answers to all the questions except that most of them do not add up. A very confident 'smooth talker' - so do watch it.

At the start, he said to be representing an MNC (yes!) called JS Marketing & it is a CID approved co. They are acting for a National Advertising Campaign (and that they were involved in last year's National Day campaign - what ??). "You did not see the half page advertisements we took out for a week-long campaign in Mar earlier this year !!??" in an intimidating tone. Of course no one will remember as the said national campaign did not exist.

And he also said that there was a recent news article in the New Paper about them offering the prizes - and again there was no such article.

Claimed that JS Advertising is listed as a member of NATAs but when told the NATAs website did not show so , he responded with .. "I am looking at the site everyday and you said we are not listed ??" -again intimidating tone. Later, when pressed on and realising that he is cornered; he then said the company is actually Jue Shi Marketing, but when told again that the website also did not show so, he then after a pause ...... said they are actually listed under Oriental Travel. Pulling a confident 'fast one' all the way until you tell him off point and call his bluff.

Some of his reasons were laughable - that you are required to bring your spouse along for the prize giving cos the 'Lotteries Commission of Singapore' (hehe ...what is that ???)so mandated it... this one really buay tahan!. Also that the actual prize giving will be done by a Government agency - which he did not know cos JS is just an advertising agency (suddenly Mr Know-all became so ill informed !)

When questioned who the sponsors of the prizes are, he said the prizes are courtesy of "Lotteries Commission of Singapore" which had unclaimed prizes to give away (??). His story doesn't added up - he said if you do not claim your prize it will be given to charity - you wonder why this is not done in the first case ? :-).

He is quite smooth confident talker; so for those who are uninitiated to this type of selling tactics, pse do be very careful .....

I have received similar call at 10.30 pm at night, and of course could not remember the event where the person calling stated that I have given my name and contact number.

Same letter received via email (I have given them my office email which I could then block out subsequently if needed). It also included a one-page document on the terms and conditions such as paying etc etc for processing and delivery.

After reading this forum then I realised that it is the same one which I read from the Straits Times, loud music playing etc while they try to persuade or convince you to buy something .... thanks for these postings; it helped me save my time.

ps. They also sent an SMS quoting an award code
