I was an employee under JS advertising too. They promised good pay and commisions. During the training. they assured us that it wasn't timeshare.

Basically they tell us(employees) this: JS advertising is helping to promote Oriental travel. Oriental travel is a corporate travel agent and it intends to open its doors to the members of public. So we are supposed to call people who meet the criteria and tell them that Oriental travel is giving away free gifts as part of its advertising campaign. We, as telemarketers know nothing about the scams or what actually takes place during the 2hrs. (We were told registration, internet demo and gift collection, however, apparently that isn't the case)

Since it sounded so legitimate, a few of us signed the contract to be telemarketers to help promote OT. Once a few of us found out about the scam, we wanted to quit, however, if we quit we had to pay $270 for the training according to the contract.

Problem is, we found out it was a scam only after we signed the contract and we didn't want to cheat people anymore. However, we are being forced to work for at least 3 weeks before we can leave.

For me, I desperately wanted to get out and I actually made them sack me. Thank God!(Not sure if I have to pay the $270 though). But my poor colleagues are still suffering in the company. Anyone knows any way to quit(other than being sacked) without having to pay the penalty?

Ministry of Manpower says we have to adhere to the terms of the contract. But seriously, we were cheated into doing this... Can anyone out there pls advise me? My poor colleagues are suffering in that Shaw Centre office(#18-02) right as I'm posting this message now :(
