Paid 50% upfront and the rest by installament. Till now i still not sure why i purchase this package. Should have check tis forum b4 buying. I hope anyone can provide me info about the credibility of the comapny bcoz i think i am also a victim of their hardselling scam!!! THey told me that since i only paid half i cannot book online they will issue me after i paid the full amount but i can activate their so called extra advantage which is 3 hotel nites at US$120. I intended to book 2 hotel rooms at bintan for 2 nites. She explained to me since its a total of 4 nites i will need to pay USD240(excluding USD15/nite booking fee) for 6 days. Thats 2 extra nites. I ask her why i need to pay for another 2 nites she explain dats bcoz the EA comes in blocks of 3nites but i can use the extra 2nites for future travels. I feel that this plan is not flexible. U pay $ for future unused hotel rooms which god knows when u will go for another holiday. Another thing is they are charging SGD1.65 for every USD1 when the market rate is SGD1.6 for USD1. What i am pissed off is that during the presentation they showed me the $ which i can save if i sign up with them. Since it is $8000 for 10yrs, upon activation i am entitled to 10 free hotel nites per yr. After going bk n do some calculation i realise that by forking out 8K, i am already paying $80 per nite excluding booking fees!!! Even if i did not use the 10 free nites i still need to pay $350 subscription fee. The cash bk for not using the free nites is $600 but i only get bk $250 per yr if i minus off the fee. They keep showing u the $ saved but u 4get the hidden costs e.g. the upfront payment and the yearly subscriptions. Wif so many restrictions i find it very inconvenient to book thru them worst still is that i have yet to start the installament. I have to pay $4K for the next 2yrs. Han - u seems to have a better deal?? did they say wat so call advantages u will hv??? maybe u have a different scheme than mine. Double standards???? [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Since mine is non rebate package and i pay straight thru, i was charged $5k. Why i chose this previously is tat, after calculating of the free nights, the plan got great this disadvantage. Coz even we go rebate we are practically paying them $200 every year + the yearly subscription. While i manage to reduced my subscription to $250 yearly, coz i was almost out but they got me in again. Stupid me. So i got like $75/nite excluding booking fee, which might be ok for really high end hotel but I dont know if there is alot of hassle to get this hotel booking. I also have not received the user id and password, they said that i have to activate my account which means start paying 250 every year. I have not used this extra advantage as well as I am quite busy with my work, only got weekends to spare. Thinking again, since im a software developer, i will surely have not the luxury of using this 10days. If anyone has any solution to sell this off, please let me know. They promise to sell away my timeshare if i sign up with them. Again whether they can sell or not is a different story. So far, i have paid 1K as deposit, when the timeshare is sold, i will use the money to paid them. The package they offer to me was 7K and a further 2k reduction upon payment in full. This was a non-rebated package. So, now we need more feedbacks whether this company is genuine in providing service, or just a scam. I think this is very important. Hope to hear more from you guys. Initially, i told them i'll be down tml, but feeling skeptical still, i did a web search on this company. Count myself lucky to see your messages! Otherwise, most prob i'll be goin down there. Date Posted: Sat, Apr 29 2006, 2:54:25 Yes the same thing happened to me. i received a call on april 27 2006 and the person who called me, identified himself as Brandon and the phone was later passed to a lady who identified herself as the senior manager of discovery8 but i didn't catch her name... they sounded so real n sincere....Kept ensuring me that there's no fraud, no payment of any sort just to go down and claim the prize. The prizes mentioned were the same as Fel but with an additional $200 voucher of skin care products. Out of curiousity, i went there today on 28 april 2006. Things were very much different, i was introduced to this package priced at $9000 for 10years and had been presented with the same things as you guys. Strangely there wasn't any sign of the "lucky draw prize" that they claimed to have processed. I think i'm a victim of this as well. But fortunately, having been fore warned by my parents and friends i didn't bring my atm card with me.They asked for $1000 as deposit. However i didn't have any money with me. After much haggling from them, I paid $10 as a temporary reservation for its membership while i seek parental consent. They said they would be contacting me in due course. I seriously think i'm going to lose my $10 deposit and my parents actually advised me not to subscribe to this package. Btw did any of you here noticed that these happened within this month? I'm now wondering how many more ppl feel the sameway as i do. I'm also wondering whether there were any cases similiar to this prior to this month (april 2006)? They claimed they we set up in 1997, does anyone know of its existence and credibility? Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has tried out these packages prior to this year. So far i have been liasing with their CSO by the name of Wendy Loh. She is the only one dealing with all the bookings of hotel. I tried to book a 2nites stay in Bintan for the coming Vesek Day. Dat was on mon. She told me she would get back to me about the availability by this week but till now i'm still waiting. Tried to call her a few times and the last time was yday(31Apr) in which said she will call me about the booking by sat. She never called. Guess i hv to postpone my holiday trip since the last time she said that all the rooms are fully booked and i am in the waiting list. not sure is it true or not :(. Btw if u guys wanna try booking for any hotels, beaware that their rates are in USD and i can tell u they hv ridiculous conversion rates like US$1 is SG$1.7 when now the market is US$1 is SG$1.6++ i wasnt happy and demand that i pay in USD and they allow me to do that. Were you approached by someone with a survey form and a scratch card in a shopping area (usually Orchard Road, but more recently even suburban shopping centres as far away as Eastpoint)? Or were you approached on the phone by someone saying you have won a prize for some lucky draw you took part in, which you don't even remember? b. Did they tell you you have won a prize: top prize being a 1 week stay at an international resort and other prizes such as a digital camera? Did they appear extremely happy for you and keep telling you how lucky you are? c. Did they tell you that to claim your prize, you had to attend a 45 min presentation, with no obligations to buy anything? d. If you were recruited by phone, did they tell you to bring along your credit card, to match the last 4 digits with their lucky draw prize? e. If the place where you were recruited was far away from their office, did they offer to take you there by taxi on the spot free of charge? f. When you arrived at their office, did you make you turn off your mobile phones before you entered? Did they actually make sure you did so? g. Did the salesman try to "get to know you" and ask questions related to your income and spending patterns to access how much money you could afford? Did they also ask questions as to whether you are financially independent? h. Did he present the points to you on paper, written upside down? i. Was the sales presentation often interrupted by the sales manager who would pop by every now and then and ask if everything was alright? And did this sales manager appear at moments where the salesman had difficulty persuading you on certain issues? j. Did they refuse to reveal the cost of membership until the end, when you are totally worn out? And was it revealed by the sales manager who tried to confuse you with many figures? Did the salesman say he is not allowed to reveal figures? k. When you said you couldn't afford something so expensive, did they try to reduce it to sound attractive to you? (ie. did the $20K membership suddenly become $10K?) Did they also promise other freebies thrown in? Cruise voucher etc.. l. Did they tell you that only the largest units were available and when you said you didn't need something so large, the smaller units suddenly became available too? m. Did they say that this special offer is valid only if you sign today? And it was a once in a lifetime offer? n. When you said you didn't have the means to pay everything up in full, did they work out a very attractive 0% interest installment for you? Did they ask you how much you can afford to pay per month? Just when you thought the figure was too low for them to accept (say $150 per month), did they suddenly say yes to it? o. Did they make you put down a deposit (usually 10% of the contract)? p. Did the presentation take longer than the promised 45 min? q. Even before you have actually made up your mind, did they ask you for your credit card and usher you to another office to sign the agreement? r. Did they shake your hand and ring the bell to congratulate you? s. Did they make you pose for a picture showing how happy you are? t. When you signed the agreement, did they make you do another survey form to find out whether you have been put under stress during the presentation? u. After returning home, did you feel lousy about the whole event? If you answered "YES" to most of these questions, you have probably signed up with one of these holiday clubs who are more interested in taking money into their own pockets instead of providing an honest and reliable service to their clients. If they are really legitimate, why do they need to do business in this manner? SO... For those that have already realised yr mistake, you can take the following steps. 1) Fill up the Notice of Cancellation under the CPFT act (If they did not pass this copy to you, demand for it.) 2) Fax or send via registered mail to the company within 3 days and make damn sure that they receive it. 3) Try not to make a trip down to the company to prevent them from adding pressure on you again. If you have to make a trip, be very focus and go down with an aim in mind. 4) Demand for a letter that state the date of refund with proper endorsement and WAIT! If they dont pay up by the stipulated time, go down to case with all documents. 5) In the event that you have exceeded the 3 days cooling period, you have to support with evidence that you have been "forced" into the contract. They will work out a very attractive installment plan for you and the strange thing is, whatever is your budget, they can get it done... They look extreme "con"vincing when they present to you but if you take time to work out the sum and research online, you will find that it is not a good deal at all. e.g. Islander Resort hotel(gold coast)3stars cost around USD70 if you book online(@holidaycity.com) the extra advantage is USD120 for 3 nights and with the booking fee of USD40/night. It means that you r paying USD80/night under extra advantage!!! this is even more expensive compare to online booking. Not forgetting that you pay for the entrance fee (8k>)and yearly maintenace $350. No wonder they call it extra advantage!! Extra Income to them!! Here comes the best part, when you did your sum and finally say NO!!! Their faces changed!! Say you r wasting their time etc. Therefore, make yr own judgement, it is ultimately yr money and most importantly, never be afraid to say NO!! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Then they start to talk to you in a different tone. Really bad impression. btw the subscription fee that time was around $250 and was amazed that it increases to $350 within a year. This company provides poor service and did not give 3 days cooling off period for its members during the take up of membership. This is unfair practice and not in accordance to regulation which is mandatory. This company is just waiting to be sued. This company is a joke, the whole managment is from time-share background. In a court suite, all these will be revealed and publisized just like another previous case. Just waiting for someone to sue Discovery8 and I dun know what the GM and Director will do? Think the GM will be a scapegoat then... Think it wont be too long to wait for the news. CASE has confirmed this Co. is a time-share membership CO. who does not provide the required cooling off period. Make sure you are provided with the 3 day cooling off period and insist on it.
