We have recently attended a presentation by Oriental Travel on holiday discount and package services. We were offered a lifetime membership of SGD29K to participate in the discounts and services. Anyone also attended similar presentation and offered the same or other membership and cost? Or, has anyone become a member? Appreciate if you could share your experience.

hi there, both myself n my hubby are already a member from oriental travel. S$29K is too expensive....we've paid abt S$8K+ for the membership with 4x 1wk accommodation at 4 different places FOC. Hv not really tried their services yet s too busy. Hence, can't comment much on their services at the moment.

Did Oriental Travel offer you loyalty bonus programme and they pay you $5000 back in 10 years time?

They were just cheating you. I joined them as a member and now regret so much! You can't get the demonstrated tour package at all! They will have many excuses as the person in charge of providing tour packages were frustrated and resigned and so on. I attended the presentation on 2 Oct and require my tour packages on 23 Oct, however, until, I only get excuses for not giving the presented packages! I require to cancel the membership and ask for refund. The contact person promise to solve this this week but I'm afraid he just try to delay.

If you haven't join, don't join them. If you join, maybe we can contact each other to ask for refund. I'm even thinking about charge against them and I need witness to prove they showed the attractive price tour packages.

my email address is: hanyan_ou@yahoo.com.sg Welcome for email.

Hi Jon,

We too had signed up this life time membership under Oriental Travel PL for the amount of 10K without any annual membership fees and with 10 free hotel stays .We were given the Loyality Reward Bonus check book where we are required to sent by reg mail within 30 days of every Jan.But if you lapes or forgot or are late in sending back via registered mail, your LRB will be void as the T & C stated on the back of voucher is very small. One must remember to sent every year in Jan as they will not notified you or sent any reminder should you forget and they can jolly well forfit your gunarteed sum on the last page of the booklet.I m one of them and now we are writing in to seek their approval to reinstate my LRB as the staff would not help. All these just happen on 07 Jan 06 where we were invited to attend another new scheme of their,by converting your Gold Crown/Oriental Travel PL membership to their new scheme called "Vivale Concierge" where you have to top a sum of amount range between S$28K to S$18K. So if you have not been sending your LRB acknowledgement back to Oriental Travel P L, please do so and write in to seek Mr Ian Hoolihan at Oriental Travel P L for approval. I've just sent mine so I do not know what is the outsome yet.

Hi ppl,

Juz wana to share my experience with Oriental Travel ..
I was walking with my boyfren outside Isetan Scotts, somewhere ard mid 2003 ..
We were stopped by an innocent looking gal who claimed that she had stood for 4 hrs and cannot find a couple to help her ..
So we took pity on her and 'helped' her ..
I managed to get a $20 Isetan voucher while my bf got a digital camera ..
As usual, we were only allowed to claim our prizes after the 75mins talk ..
In the end, we were there for 3 hrs !!!!!!
During the whole talk, the sales lady assigned to us was unable to convince us to buy so her manager came over for a few times ..

Here's the sequence:
1) First he asked us whether we liked to travel or not ...
Of coz, we liked .. I mean, who dun like ??
So he tried to sell us the package - SGD 25K ..
I flatly turned him down coz we needed to buy a hse ..
Then he said that humans needed to unwind in order to work for money ..
I replied: "A house is much more important than travel. You will die without a place to stay but you won't die without travelling. I bet you owned a BIG house now, right"
So he excused himself and left ..

2) The manager came back after 30mins ..
Saying that he was willing to compromise on the package price, from SGD25K to SGD12.5K ..
He was prepared to give us 50% discount ..
But we rejected his offer and told him that we'd to catch a show ..
So he counter-offered us SGD9K ..
Guess what ?? Me and my bf laughed at him at the same time ...
My response was: "If the value of your so-called package is worth SGD25K and you are willing to sell to us at SGD9K, then most likely your package is not even worth SGD25K in the first place. We won't buy even if it is SGD2K."

We left the table and claimed our prizes.

Our advice, DON'T GO AND ATTEND ..
