I bought the LGM service this afternoo at a price of S$19500. I paied the first S$6000 by credit card and the rest was asked to pay monthly. I was told that I can withdraw this contract within 4 days.
Now, I suspect that I was cheated and want to get help from you.
I plan to ask refund tomorrow, but I am now worrying about whether it will be easy for me to get back the money.
If they refused to cancell the credit card transfer tomorrow, what should I do. Because I have called the OCBS bank to hold on the transfer, but I was told that only the LGM have the right to stop or cancel the transfer.
If they are cheating, are they illegal? why can they still cheating people in the center of Singapore?

Call the bank to "CANCEL" the transfer. YOU have the right to do so. SO DO IT.

Emily, according to the law, under the Fair Trading Act, as a consumer you have the right to cancel the agreement within 3 days, it's known as the "Cooling Off Period". Have a written notice for the company, make them sign on it as acknowledgement, keep a copy for yourself... and go to CASE about this. DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR CRAP!! And don sign anything thing anymore.... and don allow them to drag your concellation. If in any doubts about your comsumer rights, go to CASE personally or give them a call... but usually, they are more helpful in person and on the phone. GOOD LUCK!

Inform them IMMEDIATELY to cancel the contract, either by registered post or you bring it down personally and get them to acknowledge. You don't have to give them any reason whatsoever, just need to tell them you don't want it anymore. If they refuse, you can go to CASE, they can definitely help you if it is still within the cooling off period of 3 days.
As for the credit card payment, if they have credit the payment, you have the right to get it back from them, of course minus whatever termination fee there is. ( Think its around $500 ) If they delay, CASE can help again.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.
you are not exactly right. That depends on which bank you are using.

I have called the bank, and I was told I have not the right to stop the transfer, only the the timeshare company have the right to cancel transfer.
The CACE tell me don't worry about the transfer, if the contract is cancelled, the company will refund the money, but it will take about month.

You have 7 days of coooling off period. By law (the latest Fair Trading Acts), you can withdraw from them. Check with CASE.
Do it quickly. You are lucky to be protected this way.
Others are not so lucky

Very sorry, there is a mistake on the info that i have provided in my earlier post on this thread.
You are not allowed to cancel a credit card transacation without the agreement/approval from the merchant. Hopefully, the earlier incorrect information that i have posted on this issue did not mislead anyone.

A victim informed me of an innovative way to cancel the credit card payments with the bank. Just inform the bank u wish to change the credit card account number. You get a new account. And there u are. The previous account is no longer valid. Presto!

Another way is to ask the bank to reverse the transaction (so-called "charge-back"). In that case the bank will refund you the money if you have a valid case. You may need to provide the bank with further details to substantiate the claim.

Emily,

Things u can do:-

1. write to the company saying you do not wish to be a member of their time-sharing club. deliver by hand and get acknowledgemnt if possible. next best thing is send by registered post so there will be a record.

2. cc the letter to CASE (make sure the Company sees the cc - may make them realise you are going to get help if necessary). CASE can also then confirm that you did send the letter if the company denies receiving it.

3. write to your credit card company to tell them not to accept any debit charge from the time-share company and to inform you instead. it may be more difficult to get a reversal after the credit card co has paid out the money to the time-share company.

4. if the charge hasn't appeared yet, cancel your credit card immediately and apply for a new one.

Hope the above helps
