Warning on one of the latest ways to scam Timeshare using a middleman company
(Similar to MeMM's msg on 03-Oct)
Just got a call from the number 68873185 & 68875027 from a person called Yati, who works for a marketing firm TRUST MEDIA on behalf of a travel company (OT Travel - Oriental Travel) telling me that I, together with 90 others have won a lucky draw, which they say I participated some time in the last 6 months in one of the shopping outlets in Singapore. I had just to come down for a public 'opening ceremony' & collect my winnings.
She asked me 3 questions to 'qualify' me.
(1)Do you use Credit Card, Debit Card & Cash for payment (If u don't have credit card they don't like you)
(2) checking your gross family income ( >S$5000,etc)
(3) If you & your wife are S'poreans or PR
She then verifies your IC number.
They tell you have won a prize of S$3500 ,1500 is for eshopping using your credit card & 2000 is for a cruise to some place, also that there will be a grand draw where the prize is a car - but all these after coming down for the 'opening ceremony' on Oct 17th in Orchard road.
Her company apparently was involved in a DBS blck card launch where a Lambhorgini was given away to some lucky 'customer'
They told me I had to be there at 2.30 pm next Tuesday, when I said I cannot make it at short notice - I was informed that even people who are out of S'pore are coming back for this 'opening ceremony' , she told me i should take urgent leave or medical leave for this event - some great singapore sale that supposedly will last for 8 weeks - (Yeah right..)

She went on to say that I had to bring along my wife as it's a public event it would be more appropriate if I won to 'share' the joy with her as pictures will be taken, etc.
(If you did'nt know, your spouse is basically to help with the timeshare membership 'closing'. They'll say that you don't go for enough holidays together or when was the last time you had a break to enjoy, etc & if you cannot 'physco' 1 , you may still be able to 'physco' the other..)

Obviously I was sceptical & she put me to her boss, whose name she does'nt know, a Mr. Mitch Mibbort who informed me that they are in no way associated with a Timeshare company. ( Yes, they just get the people FOR the timeshare company as middlemen) He even gave me a CID licence # 7482006 & told me all the prizes had been declared under section 2 & the police have checked & verified that all prizes will be given out. He said we are being used as advertising media & to say nice things about the company if we'd had won.
He told me that if I cannot make it at 2.30pm he can put me in a special VIP session at 6.30pm (wow!) Of course it's easier to go down at 6.30pm for working people, 2.30pm slots are just bonuses for them for the greater 'suckers'(The actual fact being that there are actually 2 sessions..)
He even went on to 'say' that he himself had been a victim of timeshare losing $15000 because he refused to listen to his wife before he went down for a 'physco' session.
He went on to say if I won the car , i could buy him lunch.. - fat hope!
