I advise all of you victims who feel cheated to make a police report. As long as the date of the incident is less than a year ago, it's still not too late.

The more reports the police have of these companies, the more reason they have to start investigations on them.

Some of their activities may even be criminal, but if no-one says anything, then it's hard to prove on a case by case basis. In every case, it would be the victim's word against the company's. But if we have 50 victims all saying that the companies misrepresented the facts, then we might be able to infer fradulent intent, ie: they set out to cheat.

I myself have made a police report about my experience with LGM.

Summarise what happened:
1) When the incident happened
2) How much you lost
3) Name and address of company whom you bought the timshare with
3) What they told you.
Ie.
"They assured me that I would get back my money after 5 years."
"They said if I don't sell them my timeshare, the old timeshare company would chase after me for the maintenance fees."

4) Why you think that what they said is not true. Ie: "I called them and they said, no, the cashback is not guaranteed. What they told me was only the maximum amount, I could get back."

5) They misrepresented the facts or else I would never have signed up, etc...

While I was making my police report, the police seemed to be discouraging us from doing so. But once they found out what happened, they became quite helpful and sympathetic.

Yes. Go to the police first and make a police report before u go to CASE. What the police need to see before they spring into action is to see a trend. The more people report this scam the better it will be. What these people do is to tell lies after lies to persuade u to part with your money. Isn't this cheating? What u need is a witness and some record of conversation or proceedings. If u have recorded the presentation in your voice recorder the better. The witness can be your partner or spouse. And after u have placed a deposit for the membership they throw the contract at u and tell u it is non-cancellable. And they threaten to sue u! What cheats! Pass the word around. The more people who come to know about this scams the better. Please warn all your friends and relatives about how people get cheated of their hard-earned money in our clean and green society!

Currently, I know of at least three people (including myself) who has made a report against LGM.

When this number of cases increases, we can start putting pressure on the police to do something.

Others who have made police reports, please also post here so that we can keep track of the numbers. But don't post too much details. Just amount paid and company involved.

Today, one more person emailed me. So that brings the total number of known police reports to 4.

How many reports must be made before the police investigates?

i went to make a report months back.. but was late evening and CAD was closed. They couldn't help by saying that they can't file the case for me. They themselves also know that all these companies are scam..

Questions:
which department to go when make a complain. Is it CAD or normal neighbourhood Police post?

I'm just a layman, and pretty blur about legal issues, but from what I gather, the authorities are saying what these timeshare companies generally are doing or reported to be doing does not constitute a criminal offence, and so CAD cannot do anything. Why it is not a criminal offence, I have no idea.

If there are a lot of victims (about 100) I'm quite sure that the police will take action. Our best bet is for all the victims to make police reports. Those who have made reports should post here so that we can keep count.

I went to Bedok North Police Centre.

But any police centre should do. CAD might be even better though.
