I just recently being called up by the agent telling me that I still have a debt with the club!!!

My case :-

3 years ago, 2002, when I tricked to sign up the agreement of timeshare, the next day I turned back for the cancellation right away. And the agent agreed for the cancellation, of course I got written and signed agreement from them stating my membership has been cancelled and there was no more legal binding with both parties.

But recently, the agent called me up, telling me the ridiculous thing, said that my membership actually is still active with the travel club because it is non cancellable !!!! And since this long I never pay for anything, the club goin to claim from me the late charges, and whatever +++ .... But, 3 years ago, I received the letter of termination agreement from the AGENT, meaning nothing ???? just a basic format ??? Instead, still have legal binding with the travel club without my awareness ??? (Because the agent is the 3rd party and I believe all of you should have the same experience)

So, what is it all supposed to mean ? The agent now is pursuing me to sign another agreement with them, saying the extra whatever late charges and surcharges, they will bare, the remaining amount that I owe the travel club, still have to clear or I will be summon !!!

Then, I wonder if I want to get rid of all the legal attendance, I will just pay for the remaining debt and resell it again with the local broker.... But, seems not just as easy as people claimed in the forum.

Can anyone also tell me what is the end result of the reselling ?

So, what can I do now ??? please help urgently.. Help ~~~

pls drop me email urgently - casperkent@yahoo.com

If you still have all your documents, including the most important one "written and signed agreement from them stating my membership has been cancelled and there was no more legal binding with both parties", then do not get taken in by these scumbags.

They tried similar tactics on me and fortunately I've done my homework thoroughly and tested them to know for myself they are all bull.

Base on the facts you have provided here, it appears you have no potential liability, unless you have taken up what they propose, so don't fall into their traps/lies.

Best of luck!

Hi all, I have the similar case as casper, I signed a contract with World Resort Internation in Jan 2001 and cancelled it in Feb 2001. Recently received a call from Global Europ for demanding for the $7000 outstanding payment. I did not receive any membership certificate and payment reminder from WRI during the four and half years. But it is too bad that I did not keep the termination letter for so long (anyway it was happened four and half years ago!). Will it be any potential liablility for my case if i igore their call?
Thanks for advice.

Hi amk

If your contract was signed with World Resort International and if the company has already wound up, no other local companies can associate themselves with WRI to handle "outstanding cases" since at the point when you sign the contract it was not explicitly stated in the contract.

Be sure you don't get fooled! I was almost fooled by another timeshare company but the sharing done in this forum helped me make a sound/wise decision. I was also threatened that they will issue lawyer letter to chase me for the balance and todate I've not received any and if I do, they will be in bigger trouble than they know or can foresee!

Hope the above helps!

Best of luck!
