The protocol class is especially beneficial for those who have not had any military experience in the past. However, much of the information can be gleaned from reading the Army Wives' Handbook. For many classes, those spouses who are unable to attend the class may receive a PowerPoint presentation or Word document detailing the basics of what was covered. Most importantly, encourage your OC to attend. Many times, the information they learn is more beneficial to them. And, often they are extremely excited to share what they learn. It is useful information for both women and men; generally speaking, the men have more to learn anyway! :) From my own perspective, if you traveling and missing school is an issue, this would be one event that could probably be skipped in favor of making the others where you will be able to spend time with your OC.
