Subject: Ezekiel Brashear

BRASHEAR, Ezekiel Pvt. Co.B, 13th KY. Cav.
Jan. 11, 1826 - June 11, 1864
Pvt. Ezekiel Brashear enlisted in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry (originally known as the 10th KY. Mounted Rifles) on Sept. 12, 1862 at Brashearville in Perry County under Captain D.J. Caudill & Captain George Hogg, He participated in the Battle of Leatherwood as a member of Co. B on Oct. 19, 1862 and all skirmishes and battles involving the regiment as a whole until being killed in action during the Battle of Cynthiana, Ky. in 1864. Gen. John Hunt Morgan ordered his body transported home for burial via horseback, because Ezekiel had demonstrated great bravery in battle. He is buried in the Branson Cemetery, mo. of Pratt Fork, off Rt. 7, Letcher, Ky.
