Subject: Col. Robert A. Smith - Battle of Munfordville 1862

My dear Compatriots, after futher investigation, what had been described to me as A Son of Kentucky buried in Scotland turns out to be the reverse. Col. Robert A. Smith was a Scottish born soldier who died 14th. September 1862 at Munfordville.

There are two monuments in his memory. One near Munfordville and the one I found in an old cemetery in Edinburgh yesterday (26th. June 2007)
We, here in Scotland plan two memorial services this year but there will be more each year from 2008.

Your servant, Gentlemen,
The Highland Chaplain
