The truth is they were doing neither, it was an illusion to save one of the greatest ledgends ever to have lived.Infact this ledgend was a horse,an Arabian stallion to be presise... His Dubbance was Blue~Horizon,the most prized Arab in the world at that time.His family had orphaned him and loved him greatly as he did for them. The Smyth's knew people where after him,and by any means necesary they would take him and claim him as their own.None of them wanted that to happen... They lead him away from the life of shows,mares and constant plane flights.They lead him out to a pasture at the back of their property and left him to live on his lonesome,occasionally visiting him with treats and afectionate hugs...
