I actually got to watch this, but I'm not sure why I did. There's just something about this show. It's not grabbing me. Yes, Alba is damned cute, and yes, she's finally beginning to discover other modes of emoting beyond "pout".

Maybe the dystopian future they're trying to portray isn't screwed up enough to suit me. Hollywood never seems to have the balls to thoroughly muck up the fabric of society, instead changing only a few things and keeping the gist of everything intact.

While I think sf is done much better, on average, than it used to be on tv, I think it still doesn't go far enough. In the writers' defense, though, I believe it's a hell of a lot more difficult to keep AHEAD of science these days than it used to be, fourty years ago when the first Trek showed up.

Original Cindy and Max are very good friends and trust each other completely. How often does that happen on tv? Sure, they've flirted with each other in the cause of Getting The Job Done, but there's really nothing there between them, sexually. I like it. Same as I used to like the close connection between Scully and Mulder. It was something different. Two gorgeous straight people of different genders who could work together well, be FRIENDS, and not have that unrequited lust thing going on in the background to kill all the other drama going on. We get SO much sexual angst, lust, and goings on that I love to see simple friendship take its place now and then.
