My Favorite Singer or Band

I don’t have a favorite singer or band, and since I like lots of them, I’m going to talk a little bit about one that I admire, that is Celine Dion.

She was born on March 30th 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, and is the youngest of fourteen children in a highly musical family. Her family owned a small local club, and on weekends, all the family entertained the local population. Celine began singing at the age of five, and when she was 12 years old she recorded her first demo. In 1982 Celine Dion won her first international contest and soon began recording singles in her native province, becoming a local star. One curious thing about her is that her native language isn’t English, as I always thought it was, but French; she learned English in the late 80’s.

She gained the status of celebrity in US by her performance in the soundtrack of Disney film "Beauty and the Beast", which went to nº 1 and won her a Grammy for "Best Song". Celine Dion's successful streak continued in 1997, with the release of the album "Let's Talk About Love". This album went straight to the top of the Billboard charts thanks to the hit singles "Tell Him," a duet with Barbra Streisand, and "My Heart Will Go On," the love theme from the movie Titantic, which sold over 27 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling orchestral soundtrack in recording history

In 1999, after the release of the album "All The Way - A Decade Of Song", Celine decided to take a break from performing, motivated by Rene Angelil's (her husband and manager) struggle with throat cancer (which he eventually won) and the couple's desire to start a family. Celine gave birth to a son, Rene - Charles, in January 2001.

Celine has become one of the divas on the 20th century, with her song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", and her Titanic hit, "My Heart Will Go On". March 2003 was the period of her return to the stage, which was set to take place at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
