I read the article "Weekend Holiday Shopping Generally Brisk" on the New York Times. It was about the shopping rates in the Northeast of the United States. It says that they have been low up to now due to the weather. The constant snow blizzards (there were two this past week) have scared people off the streets and kept them in their homes. Store owners are expecting that the fact that Saddam Hussein was captured might add a little touch to the spirits of those who haven't gone out shopping yet. Some shoppers say that this fact, though pleasing, will not change their plans of spending a certain amount on gifts but retailers and store owners still expect that the rates will increase towards the holiday season.
