Subject: Task 11

I have read some of the magazines articles suggested and for my surprise, most of the articles related to the Christmas issue were not really related to the Christmas spirit. For example 'Time' magazine has some article focusing on Bush's holiday and how he will spend it. There is also an article discussing about some terrorists that are planning to attack or at least it is a foreshadowing danger in Europe. Now in 'Newsweek' you can find two interesting articles. The first one is about a controversial subject; religion. When a woman goes to the post office and asks for a Christmas stamp, the clerk surprises her and says: "What denomination?' The woman says: "God help us. Has it come to this? Give me six Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran and 22 Baptist." I thought it very funny, though serious. The second article suggests many movies related to Christmas. Finally an article in 'The New York Times' also discussing about how different religious see Christmas, in the article a Jewish family. Many articles in the three web sites deal with the commercial aspect of Christmas what is a shame.
As we can see, Christmas can be seen in many different ways, but the most important is not to forget what is the real meaning of this date.
