Reading 6 – Lost City Near Machu Picchu found

An international team of explorers has found a lost Incan city in the Peruvian jungles next to the religious center of Machu Picchu. The city was located from the air using infrared aerial photography which penetrated the forest canopy. Later, machetes were used in order to the expedition go through the jungle and reach the ancient city. Explorers found some stones buildings and also a solar temple which can give the area a great ritual importance. Interestingly, such a city was the second lost city found in the last years at Machu Picchu area. Some cities have also been rediscovered but it is believed that there could be many more out in that area. As tecnology has been greatly developed, it is going to be easy for explorers to reach other ancient cities in Machu Picchu in less than two years.
