The article I read is about five police officials from Colombia who lost their jobs after the Colombian president, Alvaro Uribe, found out that they had been spending the government money with expensive parties, restaurants and jewelry. The amount of money spent by the police officials was enormous. An employee of an expensive restaurant in Medelin told to a local magazine that the officials were very known clients in the restaurant. The “fancy” programs of the officials also included expensive whiskey, watches and jewelry. The officials had been using the government money for at least three years. The money spent by them was supposed to be used mainly to pay police informants and protect witnesses in a country where the government fights drug trafficking constantly.
