I chose the topic “Matrix Revolutions tops box office”, in the Entertainment section.
The article is about the last movie of the Matrix trilogy, that opened his season in the cinemas at the number one spot. Although it grossed more than $80 million in its first weekend, this number is lower than the opening of Matrix Reloaded, in May, that got almost $100 million in the same period.
CNN questioned Joel Silver, producer of the series, about this “lack” of enthusiasm from the public (and the critics, since both Reloaded and Revolutions were highly criticized. But the producer reminded that the Matrix franchise obtained more than $1 billion this year with movies and merchandise, and also seemed pretty confident that in the next weeks the movie will draw even more viewers.
