1) Los Angeles Area Gets a New Spider

2) A rare and unusual spider has been found in the Los Angeles area. It is believed that this specimen, named Brown Widow, is probably from Africa and has made its way into Los Angeles through the importing of plants, flowers, food or furniture. It was first seen by a fourth-grader who was on a field trip with his school. As opposed to most spiders in Southern California, which do not represent real threat to human beings, the Brown Widow, as well as the Black Widow and the Violin Spider, are extremely harmful and if bitten, one should seek for medical help.

3) I got 14 out of the 15 correct.

4) I chose this text because there was not much choice. I didn't think this was a very good site for a couple of reasons: first off, many of the readings are not free, besides, not all the ones that are free offer quizzes and activities related to the text and which effectively test the learner's reading comprehension (that's pretty restrictive in my opinion). At least this is how I felt about the Advanced Readings. Another thing is that quiz was very simple and did not approach areas such as vocabulary, drawing conclusions, etc. In addition, when you submit your answers, the computer gives you your score but not what you've done wrong.
