1. Visit http://english-zone.com/reading/index.html where you can find some reading activities. Please, select any topic, read a text and do the exercises. Then write a report giving good reasons to motivate an English learner to visit that site.

I’ve chosen the “Los Angeles Area Gets a New Spider” text. It talks about a new species of spider (the tropical brown widow) found in the Los Angeles area. It was captured – along with its egg sac – and taken to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and it will be part of a spider survey being held at the museum. This spicies of spider had not yet been seen in the area and it is believed to have originated in Africa. It is very poisonous and rare spider and it was found by a 4th grader during a field trip.

My performance in the exercises was very good but I was a bit disappointed with the kind of exercises. For an advanced level, I expected them to be more demanding. The answers were very explicit in the text and I think that this kind of exercise would be better for low intermediate students rather than to advanced ones.
