Sorry, just had to say that after reading Angeline's reply :)

Alright, so last ep was all about wallowing in the wonderfully dark and twisted wrongness that was Vamp Wes and Vamp Lilah. The way they worked together, the way they talked together, just the way they were was all history in motion.

What was it Angelus once said? Something like:
"Good ol' Wes. You can always count on him to tackle a bad situation and make it worse."

So, finally Angel comes to some kind of acceptance of the situation. Kind of.

WES
You don’t know anything about me. Play again.

ANGEL
You don’t let anyone know you, Wes. You keep it inside and expect us to guess what you’re thinking.

And Angel is completely right, and hopefully it will help ease his guilt a little. Just before Wes was turned, Angel and the others were talking about how no one could quite figure out what Wes was up to, when he was about to snap. I imagine this must have made Angel later feel guilty as hell in the usual 'I should have noticed and done something sooner' kind of way. But that isn't always possible. Sometimes the hardest thing to accept is that you can't help someone because they are never going to let you.

ANGELUS
He’s got you sussed because you believe he does. And you won’t let go of your love for him. Trust me, he doesn’t feel it for you.

**sniff**

The second line just broke my heart. Again. Damn you.
However, while Angelus may be right about Angel, I'm not so sure about love in general. Wesley certainly feels something for Lilah and vice versa. Vampires really are a complicated species.

And bringing in the pillow? Ouch. I wonder what vamp Wes' reaction would be if Angel really did try that. I have a feeling it would not be pleasant...

Wes and Lilah. Again, a great episode for them. I don't know what was going with Lilah, but it was fascinating. I think her problem is/was that she is such a strong character, the demon really doesn't get to do much other than give her a blood lust. Other than that she seems relatively unchanged. Which is disconcerting when she's watching her partner slowly change beyond all recognition. He still loves her, but the fact she dreams of him staking her shows that some part of her is aware he's slipping.

Glad that Angel, *finally*, cottoned on to the fact that maybe they would do better not to go splitting up and wandering all over LA and thus practically sticking 'pick me off' signs on their back.

I would have *loved* to have seen Willow's 'fight' scene. What an image. All light and fluff and sweetness, just a rather sharp hint of blood, gore and claws. Wonderful contrasts :)

And then we have the ending.

So, let me just check I've understood this:
1) Wesley's initial plan was to win the Battle of Shadows so he could ensoul himself and fully restore Lilah.
2) His second plan was to then win the Battle of Shanshu and so return himself to full humanity also. So what if he then made Angel's past 100+ years of fighting pointless ;)
3) Said second plan has now hit a snag, namely that Wes really is evil this time and no more desires humanity than a lemming desires a liferaft.
4) The upshot is that Wes and Lilah have yet again been separated. And I'm with Lilah. Wes, you fool.
5) Wes and Angel are set to battle it out for real this time. Winner gets humanity. Loser, I presume, is either dust or gets bound to be the Keeper.

You broke them up. Again. You effectively killed one of them. Again. Do you not feel just one itty bitty pang of guilt for the pain you've put those two through?

So, to end on a positive note. Let me say that yet again you created a classic scene(s). The bar. Lilah and Lindsey meeting again, and boy have things changed. She must have loved pointing that she was not the one left pulling pints. And then to see Wes outside doing what he does so well. Like I said, him and Lilah are a wonderful team. I can so see her laughing, relaxed with drink in hand, as Lorne and Co. realise they've yet again been had. I shall miss this evil duo. They had genuine class :)
