Hmm, so the conversation where half the ASSB were swooning over Wiseblood's desciption of Vamp Wes did not escape your attention then?
The introduction was a heartbreakingly brilliant opening. Just like when Darla was re-turned, we did get a few moments of old human Wes when he first woke up. Just like her he did not seem to pleased about it. And just like her, we all knew the shit had hitteth the fan when all that fell away. His lover. His Sire. If those two get out of this intact then Angelus and Darla had better look to their laurels cos these two will be scary.
The weird thing is, that for Wes and Lilah, this is effectively their happy ending. They're together. They're still in love. And neither feel any ties to anything/anyone else. They're free to do what they want.
For some reason the scene of them walking out of the magic dealer's shop made me smile. He had his book. They were both laughing over her embrossed stapler. If it wasn't for the fact they were both evil and undead they would have looked like a normal, happy couple out on a shopping trip.
The gang's reactions were lovely.
Fred, Tibby and Willow were just plain sad and rather tense. They could sense something wasn't quite right, especially Tibby, but they couldn't place it in time. My respect goes up for Tibby though. I don't think she and Wes would have worked the way he was, (it was too late, he was too dark), but I still think she's a strong character. The fact she didn't just go to pieces but has already accepted that 1) she's again in Lilah's shadow and 2) she may have to stake the man she loves, that makes me think she'll be a good ally for Angel to have.
The way Wes always so politely tried to get everyone to invite him in was plain creepy. I can just see that nice smile, hear the cool tones. He was so playing with them and loving every second. In a very nasty, twisted way, it was great fun to watch.
And poor Angel. The picture of him with Connor in Wes' old room was plain gutting. I imagine all of AI are feeling plain gutted right now. And maybe a little guilty. As Connor and Gunn pointed out, Wes always managed to take them by surprise when it came to his darker inner streak. Even when they supposedly knew the tell-tale signs from 'Sleep Tight' they still couldn't save him.
On the positive. I think I finally get what's going on with this Goddess and Ethan Rayne.
So, if I understand correctly, if all goes well then Lilah could have her soul restored. That or she'll be dusted or escape.
Wes will either become a powerful, evil Gatekeeper for all eternity, or he'll get dusted, or he'll escape.
Hmm. Well at least Lilah has some hope.
Wonderful finishing scene. Angel and Angelus. Asking for advice. I hope we get to see some of that next week.
And is it me, or has no one yet seen Wes' vamp face? I suppose that's a small mercy for Angel. Let him take this one step at a time.
