i just saw 3 Dog Night in concert. it was a pretty good show considering i only knew 4 or 5 of the songs, i was one of the only people there that was over 6 and under 40, and that i spent a third of the show waiting in line for the bathroom. never-the-less, i got to hang out with the parentals and hear some good music. it was cool.

ok,i have a really adorable story . i was watching frankie, he's 3 and lives down the street from me. sometimes if he's calm enough or if nobody's at my house, i let him come over and i watch him there. well, today he seemed to be entrenched in his "why" phase. he asked if we could go over cole's house.( my full first name is nicole, that's where cole comes from, but most people just call me nicki . . . i'm just lucky i graduated to cole . . . last year, before he learned the "L" sound i was "doh". yes, the "doh" just like homer simpson.)i said we couldn't today because my dad was working. he asked why of course. i said because he has his office in our house. why? because he owns his own business . . . this is where it gets funny. frankie said " i own MY own business!" and i asked him what he did. he said . . ." i clean cats". that's it! strait from the mouth of a three year old . . . lol!

Hi guys. Sorry I don't really have time to read the posts here, but I thought I'd quickly mention a few things that I'm up to. We've done so much since the last time I wrote. My favorite had to have been Versailles. Those gardens and fountains were absolutely amazing! We left Paris about 5 days ago and traveled to all kinds of castles that look like they are right out of fairy tales. Last night we got to Grenoble where classes start for me tomorrow. The dorms are gross!!!! No toilet seats, 1 shower for a whole floor, and it's co-ed with some really creepy older guys. Oh, and there is no toilet paper. We went up to the peek of a mountain in the Alps today, and that was such a sight to see :) Well, I gotta go. Hope to talk to you all again soon.

Hi there!! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Tristan's surgery was yesterday. We were there at 6:30a.m. and he went into surgery about 7:30. Everything went fine and I took him home around 11:30 yesterday. He's doing well, eating his soft foods. He sounds so different, like he sucked in some helium. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers girls, ::hugs::

it's time for summer auditions and dance conventions! woohoo! i'm leaving tomorrow night. it's gonna be hard this year. i don't know anyone else who's going. all of my friends that i usually dance with weren't invited to come back to the convention circuit, so unfortunately the only people that i know, that are going, i'm in direct competition with. but i figure as long as i go with the flow i should be fine. nobody needs to deal with teenage girls being snottier than usual, right? i should probably be packing instead of writing to you guys but . . . oh well. i can always do that in the morning . . . just think . . . 8 hours a day of dancing . . . that rocks my sad little world! lol.

Wow it's been awhile since I checked in here. I've been really busy or just not wanting to be on the computer lately. Glad to see everyone's doing well :)

First of all, before you read know that this is just a joke, written in good humor by myself and my friend, Tania. We were bored, plus she's been a little miffed about the camera situation. As for me, I'm not even going (but if I was I'd be upset about not being able to bring my camera too) lol... Also, feel free to add your own rules too, and be creative! :)

Just a few rules for Challenge for the Children… You must read and agree to them before entering the state of Florida, and only if you pass a drug screen and psych exam.

1. Upon entering the 500 foot security radius of “the talent”, each individual must use a self-contained breathing apparatus. This will be provided at the expense of the fan, and should be non-flamable. Since this is next to impossible to find, flamable will be accepted but only if it is in a disposable tank.

2. No individual may look at any of ‘the talent’ without the purchase of specialized opaque sunglasses. These sunglasses may be purchased at the gate for $5000 a piece. If any said individual should choose to gaze upon the talent without the protection of the sunglasses, they will be promptly turned to stone.

3. No individual may speak to or about 'the talent', their family, friends, girlfriends, or anyone who has ever met them in the past or will possibly in the future. This includes but is not limited to public or private conversations.

4. Only pinhole cameras will be allowed inside the venue and can only be taken from outside the 500 foot radius and only with expressed, written consent from “the talent” which must be obtained 4 weeks prior to the event as scheduled. Upon entering the venue, in order to comply with the safety standards, you must get all supplies passed through customs. After doing so you may reassemble your camera, while singing Bye, Bye, Bye backwards, in Spanish. To learn how to make your own pinhole camera, please visit the following website:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/consumer/education/lessonPlans/pinholeCamera/

5. No individual may speak above a whisper within the 500 foot security radius. Anyone caught talking or screaming within the said radius will be promptly removed from the venue and beheaded in public at sundown. Such event will be recorded & used for future reference in how we can make your CFTC experience a more enjoyable one...

i probably did one of the stupidest things possible. i read a thing on the urban legend of bloody mary . . . which got me really curious. so i went on the internet and researched it. now, not remembering that usually only things that in real life could never happen scare me, i did a lot of reading on it. now , i'm going to bed relitively soon . . . well at least attempt to now. i really need to stop being curious . . . i would get a lot more sleep that way. oh well. . . guess i'll have to break out another novel. hopefully it will be a good enough distraction.

ps- i just read 'a walk to remember' by nicholas sparks. it was quality reading. i just picked up another one of his books this afternoon, i'll tell you how it reads.

I don't know what's gotten into me these days! I've been reverting back to the music of my younger (some much younger years). Been listening to the Monkees and watching the shows (my son loves them, thinks they're hilarious.)

Listened to some Metallica last week. (I loved them in high school). Now, I'm on a kick with "The Jam". If you don't know who they are, they are a band from the late seventies/early eighties that were british punk rock, even though their sound became more 'pop' as they evolved. I do highly recommend buying or checking out their album online. They were one phenomenal group that America never paid enough attention to. Songs I love by them are "Going Underground", "Start", "Absolute Beginners" and "Bitterest Pill".

So what are some of your favorite bands?? Even the ones from your childhood. I'm curious! :)

okay, i'd just like to say that i'm completly jealous of janelle. i would give anything to see the louvre right now.keep having a good time!!!!!!!

you guys missed quite a show.i took my brother to the local sports authority to pick up a new aggressive helmet for when he plays street hockey. well, being the uncanny, and quite strange people that we are, we thought we'd give a little show to anyone that was driving in our vacinity on the way home from the store. it just so happened that busta's "put your hands where my eyes can see" was on the radio. so my brother put on his new helmet and started to pound out the bass beat to the song on his head, while the both of us sang along. i wiggled (cause i had to hold onto the wheel obviously)but dan danced his skinny little butt off and drummed at the same time. we pulled up at about three red lights, and passed a good number of pedestrians that found it in their best interest to not see us. by the time we pulled back onto our street, everybody was inside! nobody got to see our stellar performance. it's a shame. we were really good too.

well that's the update for now. (we did a good number when "love shack" came on at the center of town too . . . lol)
if we do anything else abnormally strange yet subtley entertaining i'll be sure to fill you in. or more likely, babble and make you read junk anyways. muuhahahahaaaaaa! (that was my evil laugh by the way)

Just dropping you a little note about what I've been up to. Before I begin, I apologize for any typing errors because this keyboard is way different so i have to hunt and peck. Anyway, I vacationed with family in northeastern Wisconsin for 10 days with my family. Those were nice but the weather was pretty cool and rainy for the beach. Straight from there I hopped a flight to Paris. I enjoyed the flight, but didn't get to look out the window since i was stuck in the center of the plane (I got like 20 mins of sleep tops). The taxi drive from the airport to the hotel was insane! They truly drive like maniacs...it's unbelievable! The same day we arrived we were out walking until 1am. We walked for miles and miles and miles.... One thing I noticed here is that it doesn't get dark until around 11:00pm and there are no bugs which is great for us since we're out so late.

The next day we got up early as usual and walked ALL day in the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay. We went to the Eiffel Tour at night. The next day we walked all day and visited cathedrals amongst many other places. We finally got some free time last night. We all decided we wanted to go to one of the many concerts going on across the city for a celebration. That was quite the mistake...lol. After the taxi drive, this would be the 2nd near death experience. It was a free Lenny Kravitz concert crammed in a small area. We were actually really close to the stage but still couldn't see much of anything and there were no screens. We were hot and soaked with sweat. Everybody was packed on top of each other. Some people couldn't take it any longer because they felt sick, so we left that area. We had no idea that there were now 1000s of people behind us...it took a half hour to push our way out. Lenny ended up coming out 2 hours late. By then, the whole street was a mad house (like a riot almost). Today, we walked all day again...do you see a pattern? My feet are killing me and full of blisters. We saw Napolean's tomb, lots of pretty gardens, and the musee de Rodin.

One other thing, older French men sure love American girls. They are such pigs that it is disgusting. That was another thing that made the free concert quite the experience.

Oh, another observation...this city NEVER sleeps. Even the kids are up at 2 am. Huge crowds are out until at least 4 am.

Not sure if I'll get to send another email for awhile. We have quite the packed schedule. We leave Paris on Wednesday and are on the run for a bit. We settle down for a month in Grenoble come July 1st.

Bye from the blister-footed and tired of eating hard bread Janelle :-(

i have a funny story. i've been baby-sitting the past couple of days for a little boy named Frankie. i haven't watched him since spring break so i was surprised how much he had started talking in the short time since i had seen him. keep in mind that he just turned three. we were outside. i was observing at a distance as he disected worms. (i love the kid . . . but i HATE worms . . . no lie) he wandered over to the bird bath in the front yard, and i told him not to touch the water because it was "yucky", "gross", and some other synonymes meaning eeewwwwww. he goes, and i quote, " . . . it no yucky, there's no butt . . .",and he goes on to pick up a dirty flower pot that his mother must have emptied out and says " . . . look, no butt there either!". i could have died laughing, because that kind of comment can only come from a three year old. i didn't only because he was completely serious. and he left it at that, and went back to his worms. there were no butts with the worms, so i assume that's why he wasn't fased (is that how you spell it?) in the least.(he dances and sings to ByeByeBye too . . . i don't know where he learned it, but it's adorable.)

i figured i'd share because it was too funny for me to keep it to myself.

Geez, I've been way too busy just like everyone else is I'm sure... I didn't mean to just drop off the face of the earth (or message board, lol) though. Tyler's girlfriend and I were planning on actually trying to keep up with keeping you guys up to date on Tyler... does that make sense? lol I'm glad to see that Roy has posted. (Means more to hear from him than someone like me anyways!)

I'm so grateful that the Spring semester is over! It was so much harder than I expected. The teachers seem to be assigning research papers and essays just for the pure delight of watching us suffer. I'll be so glad when I can finally be done with all of this higher education stuff. Even our intelligent little Tyler seemed to have more work this time than what he would have liked, and somehow that just makes me feel better about my own difficulties knowing that he isn't the perfect student I thought he was. I think the world of him so I don't want that to be taken wrong. He's such a good kid, and he deserves the best... but the lord never gives us more than we can handle, so I know he'll get over not being perfect. lol

Ok, I know that none of you want to hear about me and my crappy existence so let me give you the update on Tyler... His girlfriend can't stand it when he leaves town for even one hour (girl, I know you're reading this and you can't deny it so just shut up and call me! lmao), so the past two weeks that he's been traveling to visit family and friends has been hard for her. Of course, he chose the worst time to go up north to see his friends, because everyone was in the middle of finals... way to go dork! (I'm telling ya Tyler that 'Land of Mary' will drain the life right outta ya, ha ha) At least he did make it to Chicago for some very important family time and didn't have to spend all his time in Maryland. I don't envy his drive home at all. (I've driven most of it already) It's a long way from Chicago to Florida... Tyler you're too nice to your friends, but we all knew that already! (I'm so sorry if this is all random - I'm mostly just writing this down for Dani and me)Anyways, I'm sure that he doesn't want me blabbing anymore so I'll wrap this up by saying hey thanks for letting me share with ya! Keep on Smiling!

Your friend,

my mom and i just taught our dog to retrieve! woohoo! we have a yellow lab, and she never got the concept of bringing the ball back after she chased it. so after 4 years of trying to get her to retrieve instead of receive, she actually ran after the a frisbee AND, check this out, AND brought it back to us. can you believe that?!
so the moral of my sad little story is "thank GOD for frisbees" cause if we didn't have one i would be resigned to a life of chasing the tennis ball for my puppy instead of the other way around.

Well, the time has come for me to say farewell to all of you for a couple months. I'm leaving in a couple days to visit with some people in this region. Come the 18th, I'll be driving 5-hours back home to O'Hare and catching a 7-hour flight to Paris (my 1st time in an airplane). I'm going to be SOOO antsy by the time I'm done with all that sitting! I sure hope I can make myself fall asleep on the plane or that is going to be one longggg 44 hour day!

Once in France, we do some sightseeing until July 1st. At that time, we settle down in the Alps for a month of classes (the scary part!) with weekend travel to Switzerland and surrounding locations...including climbing a high peak in the Alps (ummm, we'll see how that one goes...lol) Then, it's more sightseeing in ritzy southern France and 5 days in Italy. We end with a couple free days in Paris before flying back mid-August and practically going right back to campus.

We're being told that we can go to Internet cafes while we're there. I'm hoping to send friends and family some email updates. In that case, I might paste those here if you are intereseted. We'll see how things go. They say those cyber cafes are $5 per half-hour. At that rate, I might go broke! (just thankful that I at least got a couple small scholarships to help out)

I'm planning on taking LOTS of pictures, so I'm sure I'll gradually be scanning a handful of those into an online photo album upon my return.

Well, off to finish packing. This is turning into quite the challenge to pack for regional travel, France, and being prepared to go back to school in the fall all at once. The weight limit on international flights is not helping my cause either!...lol

I hope all of you have an enjoyable, safe, and relaxing summer!

PS - I got my itinerary today, and just...whoa! I'm not gonna be sleeping much! We have a couple free nights, but I'm guessing we'll go out to a club or something. And the bus better be VERYYYY comfortable for all the time we spend on it. We have some drives that are 9+ hours...HELPPPPP!

i figured now that my shows are done, i'll lead you on the odyssey that is my recitals. we had dress rehearsals all last week. that in itself wasn't the issue. it was the fact that both my 10 page history essay and my english final were moved up a week. so while not dancing, i did homework. i only had about 10 numbers in those two shows to do everynight, so between dances i had enough time.

unfortunately, catty girls can ruin anything fun. in our final number before the finale we do a cowboy dance. (i know, weird. we had to wear red ghingam.) i had to do a cartwheel, and one of the girls while turning, stepped on me. and i mean i had a footprint on my back for a half hour afterwards. well apparently because of that i "ruined" the ENTIRE show. according to her at least. all i could do was laugh.

one of my best friends, jen, actually got hooked on a piece of the stage equiptment. it's happened to me but it was only my leg and during rehearsal. she cut up her hip pretty badly during the show though. . . ripped her costume strait down the side too. i was in the middle of the stage when it happened, and i had no idea. she's all right,we just wrapped up her hip and gave her some ice until she was due back on stage. jen rocks.

sunday i had the show at the other school. it was only a production number though. after the show my mom and i went out for dinner at about four-thirty in the afternoon. early bird special of fried clams rock my world. we were the only costumers under sixty in the place.

so that's it, thanks for dealing with my rambling.

ps- do you have anymore info on your trip janelle?

pss- i met a cute guy from new zealand. woohoo!

i'm just going to vent so if you don't want to hear about a bad dance rehersal don't read this. i had rehersal for what was only supposed to be about 2 hours. we started a half hour late and ended way too late. everyone messed up, including myself, yet they found it funny. we have our shows in a week and a half. it's not that funny. and to top it all off we got yelled at for messing up the staging after not having class for a week and never doing the show with sets and on the actual stage before! AHHHHHHH! our entire a cappella tap dance is off a count so we called an extra practice tomorrow night after my rehersal at the other school i'm going to. the worst part is that to go to practice tonight i had to leave my brother to take care of my grandmother. my teacher didn't get why i was slightly peeved that we were behind scheduale. by the time i got back dan was freaking out. and that was my stinky night! thanks for letting me vent.

I know summer hasn't officially begun for all of you, but I'm trying to get in the mood. What is with all this cold weather...I can see my breath outside!

Anyway, I survived finals and moving out of my dorm. Now the real task is figuring out how to fit all my junk into our house. Where was I able to hide all this stuff in my 4' X 4' dorm room???? It surely doesn't fit here! Guess it's back to storing boxes under the pool table. I think my dad greatly regrets buying us that pool table (especially when I tell him I pay to go out and play, but rarely play in my own home...oops).

The rest of this month is full of family functions consisting of celebrating Mother's Day with both sides of the family, my cousin's baptism, my cousin's high school graduation party, my birthday, and my dad's birthday.

I'm also hoping to get to Great America before all the high schoolers get out of school so that the lines are super short! It's great because one of my friends gets free passes if used in May. It's a blast when most of the lines are 15 minutes or less. I also hope to catch a couple baseball games (probably the minors, but those are so much fun).

This summer I'm going to Wisconsin to fish and swim for a week. Sounds goofy, but I TOTALLY love fishing! And then I'm going to France for 8 weeks (but you all know about that already).

So, what's everybody else up to? Lurkers, feel free to respond and introduce yourself :-)

I just wanted you all to know that Tyler has once again made the dean's list... he's doing extremely well at school. So far he's doing a pretty decent job with balancing out school, friends, and work.

His spring break is right around the corner, and so far he is planning on spending it in Orlando with his girlfriend.
So far he hasn't planned to go to one of his brother's shows, but maybe he will before the tour's over.

He has also tried a couple of times to write you guys personally, but can't seem to come up with anything to say. lol He can't imagine why any of you care about what he's up to, but with some help from his girlfriend (and me) we might have some new pictures and info for the website soon.

Tonight I went to see Jimmy Fallon do stand-up at the auditorium on campus. Never once did I stop laughing, and my stomach and cheeks hurt from it! He says when he gets some down time from SNL, he likes to visit a university because he felt the only entertainment he got in college was a hypnotist every two-weeks.

He started off his set mimicking tons of famous comedians and was right on the money. Then, he pulled out his harmonica and shiny (and oh so BLINDING) neon green guitar to play us a couple songs off his upcoming album to be released in September. They were quite funny. Next, he transitioned back into jokes and interacting with the audience. I guess he got in town yesterday, so he spent the past two days exploring. This was especially cool because he was able to work a lot of it into his comedy bit. Then, he did his impression of college life which was dead on and had us roaring with laughter! It was a packed house tonight, so he joked with people sitting up in the top balcony that they had Abe Lincoln seats. He proceeded with a 100% truthful history of the squirt gun from its humble beginnings that I still remember to the fire hose capabilities now. Next, he showed off his multiple talents by playing parts of songs from at least 15 different artists and changing the lyrics to talk about a troll doll. He covered everyone from U2, REM, the Fugees, DMB, Alanis, and got the whole crowd involved with the goofy parody to Coldplay's "Yellow". He briefly mentioned how he got a song on the TRL Christmas Album, and how weird it is for his pathetic song to be on there with 'N Sync (that wasn't the only 'N Sync reference of the night either...). And then he performed "Snowball". As part of an encore, he did another musical treat. Jimmy said that he noticed that every popular '80's song could be set to the music of MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This". You had to be on your toes to catch lines from the 20+ songs he sang on top of Hammer's backing track. Just amazing!

Now I definitely have to try to check out the remaining episodes of SNL to see if he uses any of the off-the-cuff ISU material in his sketches.

If Jimmy Fallon ever does a show remotely close to where you live, I highly recommend you go. He is hilarious! Someone I know did a little research and found out he's going to be playing at an extremely small Funny Bone in Springfield this weekend, and my friend and I want to go so bad. But that's not going to be happening with all these end of the year group projects, essays, and tests. At least tonight was a great stress reliever.

Mr. and Mrs. Chasez, I just wanted to thank you for taking time out to talk to me for such an extended length of time at the April 5th concert. I was truly impressed by your friendliness and the attention you gave. You sure are classy people that gain my respect. I admire how you give the fans a piece of yourself and still remain out of the spotlight and down-to-earth. I commend you on being able to strike that balance.

And going along with the whole fan interaction thing...Mr. Chasez, what were you doing out in the freezing cold walking up and down the line of fans waiting to get let into the arena? Brrrr! All we wanted to do was get inside, and there you were outside...goofy!

Anyway, thanks again. Hope all is well with all your family and that you cherished that rare quality time with JC last week.

Psst...Tyler, your parents rock! You are truly blessed.

It's been a few warm days now, but today was a scorcher. We pinned 90 degrees here in Illinois!!!

It's amazing how great weather brings the campus to life. I've never seen so many people around before. For once, I actually felt like I go to a state school instead of a private university. With car tops down and stereos everywhere blasting, it felt like summer. Everybody, including myself, tried to spend as much time as possible on the quad (aka overpopulated grassy beach) soakin' up the rays. With classes and work, I wasn't able to get out too long today, but I already have a decent tan...lol Being out on the quad was fun. Some of the music majors decided to make an appearance. I think a couple of the guitar players were having a little competition with who could draw the biggest crowd around them...haha. There was also tons of frisbee, football, and baseball tossing going on...that can get a little dangerous if they don't start learning how to CATCH! Let's just hope that one pair of guys throwing around a football are not on our team b/c my head was really no where near where they were playing :)

Ah, the only drawback is that these dorms are so hot! They are broiling even in the winter, but definitely now.

What a difference a week makes! Snow flurries vs. 90's!

So, how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

I figured a new topic would be nice . . . who has the best laugh? I know it sounds weird, but i noticed that that is one of the things that i listen to the most when i meet new people . . . so who has your favorite laugh?

- will smith ( he kind of bellows)

- mrs.silk : she is a japanese woman that i baby-sit for ( she laughs so quietly and delicatly that it just looks like she's smiling with her mouth open)

- my parents : my mom and i have the same laugh (my dad does this wheeze thing . . . it's funny)

Euhhhhhhhhh. . . that's all that i can say about yesterday. i somehow managed to get my first fender-bender(with accompanying coronary, of course), go to Battle of the Bands, eat enough cheesecake to pass out at my pre-seventeenth birthday munchfest at Chiles, and get an invitation to interview for an intership with a buiness and design manager at Saks 5th Avenue in Manhattan. And I only went out twice all day! Needless to say, i just took a long nap and watched a little Empire Strikes Back, that was just a little too much activity for me.

How is everybody else doing?

What's this I see? It is white and fluffy. Snow? Couldn't be!...it's the end of March.

I think mother nature truly has her seasons mixed up. Winter was beautiful with temps like the Spring and only one day with a tiny bit of snow that melted. I didn't even wear a jacket many of the days. Now that spring is here, the temps are bitter cold and we have a good deal of snow on the ground with more expected. I've had to dig out a hat, gloves, and boots to trudge to classes. This is so wrong!

At least it is suppose to be a little warmer for Easter. But then again, it's always colder around Chicago than it is here.

Ah, I'm back on campus again after a relaxing but (as always) too short of a break. Yuck, class tomorrow morning?? :-(

I had a nice break. Nothing extravagant by any means, but I kinda have to save up for France this summer. Plus, it was nice being home to see old friends and have some good laughs with them! Earlier in the week, we went to see "I Am Sam" at the big Marcus megaplex nearby. In my opinion, that's a good movie, and you should check it out. We really wanted to go to the sneak preview of "The Rookie" on Saturday, but one of my friends was stuck working for a portion of that night. Maybe we'll see that one when we all head home again for Easter, but I doubt it with my jam-packed Easter weekend schedule. I can't believe that movie is based on a true story! There was an interview in the paper this morning with the Chicago Cubs' pitching coach who was this guy's real manager when he hit the big leagues a couple years back...pretty cool story.

Anyway, the rest of my break consisted of heckling my brothers amidst attempts to hang out with them. We shot a few hoops, played a little bit of pool, AND they actually let me play some Playstation 2 with them!!!

*** Hey Kim, the site's homepage looks nice. I like the new, bright, fresh look.

i just saw Black Hawk Down. good movie. i recommend it if you're into the whole 'war movie' thing. ewan mcgregor has a really quirky role in it. well, that's it for now.

PS- if your into british humor and teen angst novels, i just read "Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging", it was hilarious!
