You know that girl at your prom that has the only date over 21?...I am that girl.

You know that girl at your prom whose date got drunk and got kicked out?...I am that girl.

You know that girl at your prom that burns her dress and photos the next day because she doesn't want to remember the hell-fest?...I am that girl.

Except, not this year! Yeah! Me, the one who has always gone to stuff with whatever random guy I had been set up with the day before it, actually has a real, live, normal date. Yes, technically we got set up... but only because we were two perfectly normal Oakland Christian people that didn't have dates. We were the only people in our little "buddy group" that weren't taken, so they kind of intervened and decided for us. But he asked me for real (first time ever) and he's paying for the tickets and limo and everything (first time ever, but I did argue on that, because that's just a sickeningly huge amount of money... he won't let me help, though.)

So, yeah, I'm the only girl in the whole school that doesn't have a dress the week before it...(oops) and it didn't even occur to me to make a hair appointment...(oh, well) but I don't care, because for once I won't come home crying.

(Yes, I understand that absolutely no one cares about anyone else's prom, but I wanted to get that out anyway.)

- Prom is the mother of all school dances in America. Every school has one, at some fancy club. Guys have to wear tuxedoes and girls must look very snazzy in dresses.
