Date Posted: 09/19/04 7:31:28am In reply to: d. r. burns 's message, "imlay pull" on 09/18/04 9:45:42pm Real nice hook with that Case, Dave! I don't usually hook well at 5500 - seems to hook better the heavier I load it. Guess Cheap Swede got 2nd in that class - that bothered me a little...Sorry, Gary... Andrew got a 3rd in the 7500B aboard his Uncle Chuck's UB. I guess the hard luck award came when he pulled the Cockshutt in that class. Came off the line well - looked like he loaded the weights right. But at 100 feet or so, the RPM's dropped like a rock. Couldn't figure that out - shouldn't have done that. The tires were hooking like glue way down the track, and the engine was pulling harder than I've ever seen it do. When he stalled it and restarted it, he had no control over the RPM's. Took a look on both sides of the tractor, and found the carb. linkage came loose. When the linkage came loose at 100 ft., my guess is the carb was only running half throttle. I could kick myself sometimes - him and I redid that linkage last weekend - and I didn't use a locknut where it came loose at the carb. Man, if it didn't come loose, I think it may have been a different ballgame, considering how it hooked to the track... I'm running late - gotta crank the big truck and be in Alabama first thing Mon. morning... Later... Jerry [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
