Date Posted: 11/ 6/05 3:49:34pm First of all, both of us had a real good time at that NATPA pull - both Friday night and all day yesterday. Our hats go off to Tony Capozzo & Sons. Without their time and energy, I doubt very much if that pull would have become a reality. And since it became a reality, we came to realize something that we were hoping to see within the NATPA - the word "integrity". I can't say we like all the rules, but I guess what's most important, the rules were followed exactly as published. If there were any problems, we weren't aware of them. Would we do it all over again. YOU BET!!! 3 of the Capozzo's, at one time or another, asked us what we thought of the pull. All 3 got the same answer - We were impressed, we'd be back next year - and we'd bring my brother Chuck & his Moline with us. Oh, you're probably wonderin' how we did. I think Andrew placed around the middle in 5500, 6000 & 6500 Div. 2. Me - I guess somewhere in the middle of the 5000 Div. 2. But I did take a 1st in the 7500 Div. 2. But here's the catch - I didn't actually pull against anyone else. But as I was going down the track, I pretended I was running against a bunch of Deere's, Farmalls, Molines, Olivers and the Oak Harbor & Munith Co-ops and Cockshutts. That little red one of ours actually hooked up good to the track in that class, in contrast to the other 4 classes that we hooked. The extra weight helped to make those Armstrongs bite. I'm thinking we're gonna take those Armstrongs off and set 'em off by the road. Ain't really fond of them... Think we got somewhere around 100+ pictures. Most off those were taken on the TTPA sled side of the building. The ones we have on the Nearpass side was when I pulled the 5000 class. I don't know how many will be good enough to go up on Pullsite. I changed the camera settings several times, but we never know how they actually turn out until we can check them on the computer and expand them... Oh, Andrew got a real big thrill Friday night. Jeff Nolan came up to me and asked if Andrew would like to pull his 800+ cube JD 70 for test & tune. I told him "you bet", and I knew I didn't have to asked Andrew's opinion, permission or anything else, for that matter. Most folks that know Andrew somewhat (he tends to be quiet, unlike his old man), knows he tends to bleed green, although he says he likes the Cockshutt. Well, I also got a picture of that, and I think it's good enough to make it up on Pullsite. He says that's one awesome Deere... Says he's still shakin'... Also got to meet Barry Linville, the photographer for the Hook Magazine. He's one heck of a nice guy, too. Wish I had the camera he has, but at 1500 bucks, that's for the professional photographers like Mr. Linville. Also got to meet a few of the officials of the NATPA at the bowling alley for a bite to eat after the pull - Jerry, Don and others. Real nice bunch of folks, too. I guess, in summary, we were impressed all the way around... Well that's enough now...Supposed to go to Kentucky today, but I have to drag an empty 53 footer 70 miles to Dow Corning - Midland. But with the predictions of 60 mph wind gusts, I called dispatch and told them to hang on for awhile till the wind dies down. A 65 mph wind gust will rock the trailer off its wheels. It's happened to me before... Ain't no fun... Have a good one, & keep the shiny side up... Jerry and Andrew [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
