Lena,
I do not see where it is stated or implied that being a founding member provides the privilege of being “part of the club no matter what!” Article IV merely defines that the ONLY difference between the terms “charter member” and “regular member” as being determined by the date the person joined, period. It does not otherwise differentiate between the two. To clarify, Article IV does not extend or imply any additional or special privileges to charter members. Keep in mind what was stated in one of my earlier posts and that is that the ONLY reason the charter (founding) members are listed on the website is to give recognition to those who built the foundation of the organization. It is NOT a list of people who have any membership privileges or rights forever. When a person renews (pays) his membership, he gets the right to participate in the points system, the right to run for office and the right to vote on club issues. So, “if you wish to pull you have to pay!” is not true with this club. Anyone is welcome to pull (within the bounds of the rules of course), but a non-member cannot participate in the points system, hold office, or vote.

I talked to a couple of members at the Goodell’s pull that also paid the “additional” mid-season fee. The $50 was for the NEXT season (2003) membership and the balance for the current year (2002). The “additional” fee was really not additional. It was reduced membership dues for 2002 since they joined part way through the year. It bought them the status of being a “charter member” (as defined by Article IV) because they became a member right away before the 2003 cutoff date. More importantly, they received the right to vote on important issues affecting the fledgling organization. I hope the above has sufficiently clarified these issues. Mark
