Subject: How much commission do malls charge?

I approached my local mall with a request to place a machine there. They say they typically work 40/60...this is my first time...but it seems high to me. Is this typical?
I was thinking 20% of gross sales would have been reasonable. 40% would have to be on net sales, I would imagine???
If anyone has any experience vending in malls please respond! Thanks,
