Subject: the mental obstacles of the northwest..

Living at mt shasta is a very rugged, lonely life. This town is so small, all there is, is a sherrif like andy griffith... lol. Very few women here and trying to find a male friend is impossbile because they are all hillbillies and all they like to do is drink beer and whiskey. Very few people with a brain.

The northwest region of the united states has vast forests and wooded areas... the town is smack in the middle of the primal cascade mountians... the closet town is an hour away. A cargo train comes through once every hour and that's the only excitment there is here.

All I have is my papers, my research and my hiking on mt shasta. Sometimes it gets to you. I didn't realize how lonely I really was until a few days ago.

Its hard to be a lay scientist and researcher and go to remote places to do work. Sometimes depression kicks in. If it wasn't for this absolutely beautiful mountian, I think I would lose my mind. The northwest is so majestic and beautiful, one of the most beautiful places on earth, but the silence and the absence of people make it harsh for a city dweller from new jersey like myself.....

I'm going to see my parents on the east coast for a month.... a long needed vacation. I haven't seen my folks in 2 years.

I will be off this board for a while to try to get my head together and heal my lonely heart.

I'm looking forward to my mothers chicken parmigana and lasagna....lol

Talk to you soon..
JC
