A pole shift theory is a hypothesis based on geologic evidence that the physical north and south poles of Earth have not always been at their present-day locations; in other words, the axis of rotation had been "shifted". Pole shift theory is almost always discussed in the context of Earth, but other solar system bodies may have experienced axial reorientation during their existences.

One early popular proponent of a pole shift theory was Charles Hapgood in his books The Earth's Shifting Crust (1958) (which includes a foreword by Albert Einstein) and Path of the Pole (1970). Hapgood speculated that the ice mass at one or both poles over-accumulates which destabilizes the Earth's rotational balance, causing slippage of all or much of earth's outer crust around the earth's core, which retains its axial orientation. This happens either slowly (conservative version) or quickly (radical version). The results of the shift occurring every 12,000 to 20,000 years or so results in dramatic climate changes for most of the earth's surface as areas that were formally equatorial become temperate, and areas that were temperate become either more equatorial or more arctic.

Other theories which are not dependent upon polar ice masses include:

A high-velocity asteroid or comet which hits Earth at such an angle that the lithosphere moves independent of the mantle.

An unusually magnetic celestial object which passes close enough to Earth to temporarily reorient the magnetic field, which then "drags" the lithosphere about a new axis of rotation. Eventually, the sun's magnetic field again determines the Earth's, after the intruding celestial object "returns" to a location it cannot influence Earth.

These theories are currently not accepted by the scientific community, but debate is ongoing.

Pole shifts are a cataclysmic inversion of the planet's axis of rotation, up to 180 degrees; a sudden slippage of the planet's solid crust around the molten core. There are several major scientists of this century that also expouse this concept as an event that has happened before in Earth's past.

Geographic axis: man-made arbitrary north-south fixed reference that determines lines of longitude and latitude, and the geographic North and South Poles.

Axis of instantaneous rotation: the true astronomical axis; the rotation axis. The line drawn through the Earth about which it is actually rotating at any point in time. The points where the line cuts through the earth's surface are called the "rotation poles"; the visualised extention of the north axis line in space currently points to the star Polaris, the North Star.

Axis of maximum moment of inertia = the axis of figure: because the Earth is not a perfect sphere, but is physically an oblate spheroid, the position of the axis of figure is not a precise constant, but is affected by the constant change in the earth's distribution of total mass: (ie, by ocean tides, atmospheric cond- itions, plate tectonic movements, etc.).

The combinations, and movements, of these masses with gravitational, centrifugal and orbital velocity vector forces, create what we call the equatorial bulge, and thus, the axis of figure. If the Earth were a perfect sphere, there would not be such an axis. The angular difference between the astronomical axis and the axis of figure, called a "nutation", causes an Earth orbital spirical oscillation, known as the famous Chandler "wobble". The equatorial bulge, the rotation axis' angle of inclination to the ecliptic plane, the gravitational tidal forces of the Sun, Moon and planets, have an affect on the Earths' orbit that produces the famous precession of the equinoxes.

Axial Tilt: the ecliptic is the plane of the Earth's ellipsoidal orbital path around the sun; the rotation axis is currently inclined to the ecliptic by an angle of 23.5 degrees: this is called the obliquity, or tilt, of the axis. It is this axial tilt that causes our annual seasons. Due to orbital dynamics, the obliquity varies between a minimum of 21 degs. 39 mins. and a maximum of 24 degs. 36 mins. over a 41,000 year cycle. The axial tilt's rate of change, (angular differentiation), is currently measured as .013 degs. per century.

Geomagnetic axis: not to be confused with the geographical axis, as it often times is. The Earth's magnetic field (whose real source is still an ongoing scientific mystery, but generally attributed to the interactions between the interior molten convection currents and the nickle-iron core, generating an electromagnetic force field, coupled with the rotational and orbital forces), itself has, by its own lines of force through space, the magnetosphere, a north- south axis. At present, the angular difference between geographic and geo- magnetic north poles is about 11 degrees.

Through paleomagnetism, (the study of the magnetic properties of rocks), scientists now have solid proof that the earth's magnetic field, and thus the geomagnetic north and south poles, have reversed itself namy times in the past. Magnetic field polarity reversals are magnetic poleshifts. The geologic record also shows that the strength of the magnetic field varies widely in time, and fluctuates wildly during field reversals, sometimes dropping to zero gauss strength; ie: the field vanishes, disappears! It is also a proven fact that the magnetic poles wander, literally zig-zagging around its axis.

Many researchers believe that the Earth's poles are going to shift in the near future. They believe that this is all part of the cycles of planet Earth. The magnetic North and South poles have shifted before in the course of the planet's history, one result being the last Ice Age and metaphor about the movement of consciousness through the leves of time and reality - grid programs of experience created by the patterns of sacred geometry.

Earth magnetic fields are decreasing. Planetary frequency is increasing. The grids that form the consciousness of our reality are collapsing in the clhamey of time. This will come swiftly and will not be measured in linear time. This will happen at Zero Point Merge which is a pole shift in consciousness.


Edgar Cayce was the first non-scientific person of our modern era to bring the 'pole shift' concept into the mass consciousness. He saw the shifting of the magnetic poles. He said that these shifts have occured more than once in Earth's past. Cayce was the first to say it will happen again in current time lines. His date of reference was around 1998.

EC 1932 - When there came the uprisings in the Atlantean land, and the sojourning moved southward with 'the turning of the axis'. The changes must come again, as it did in the upheavals which destroyed Atlantis when the poles last shifted. That will be the day the Earth will be rolled as a scroll; for the heavens and the Earth will pass away.

EC - 1934 - The Earth will be broken up in the western portion of America. The greater portion of Japan must go into the sea. The upper portion of Europe will be changed as in the twinkling of an eye. Land will appear off the east coast of America. There will be upheavals in the Arctic and in the Antarctic that will make for the eruption of volcanoes. There will be shifting then of the poles, so that where there has been those of a frigid or the semi-tropical will become tropical.

EC - 1936 - In the year 2000 to 2001 AD there will be a shifting of the poles. A new cycle begins.

EC - 1941 - The greater change, as we will find in America, will be in the North Atlantic seaboard. Watch New York and Connecticut. Portions of the coast of New York, or New York City itself, will in the main, disappear.

EC - 1944 - Groups will gather to rid the Earth of the negativity that will overrun the planet. Ice, nature, and God, will change the poles, to destroy the negativity.


Drunvalo Melchizedek - Flower of Life said there will be a pole shift. This will include the kind of violence that is normally associated with pole shifts, the continents going up and down, huge tidal waves that are 100 feet high, the entire south pole moving to the Equator at 1300 miles an hour and these kind of things, this may still occur. But because of something I cannot quite explain about who we are becoming and about ourselves and our ability to control our reality as a planet, we may find that the environment, even though the poles may shift, may not be nearly as violent as we think. It could actually be a very beautiful experience.

My feeling on this may go against what a lot of people think. There are many people saying 'go out and dig holes in the ground, put lots and lots of food in, and guns and munitions and hold on for the worse'. But really what you are preparing for is that time right before the pole shift. Because when the poles shift, we will go through an electromagnetic no zone for about 3 and a half days, and then, after that time we'll be on a totally different dimensional level of the Earth. Whereby anything that is happening on this level will make no difference. That's a preparation prior to the time when all the systems, the social and the financial systems and all this kind of things break down. And it's normal for them to break down. Scientists will see in the magnetic field a direct correlation of the events of the Earth.

Prior to the poles of the Earth moving to new locations, which is when the human consciousness usually moves into the fourth dimension, there would be a period of time where there may be worldwide chaos. It is a period where most people go insane, all social systems, financial systems, political systems etc., collapse and the planet is plunged into total chaos. This time period traditionally, throughout the universe, has been about three months to two years directly prior to the actual poles of the planet shifting. We'll call this time period the Translation Period.

The chaos is caused when the geomagnetic poles of the Earth drop to zero. This causes chaos because the human being needs the magnetic field of the earth to maintain it's emotional balance and memory. When the magnetics drop to zero, people go insane.

However, to believe that if you prepare in this way with food and supplies and that everything will be the same after the Translation Period, is unrealistic. At the end of the Translation Period you will change your consciousness and begin to move through the void, the birth of the new consciousness into the fourth dimension. From there on out, everything you do to physically prepare on Earth will be of no use to you in your new world.

We are going into a dimensional consciousness change and though a physical preparation may help a little tiny bit at the beginning, as we pass through these changes. The only real help is who you are, what your character is, how much your heart is open and how well you are to love and to connect with God. So the most important thing is to work on your innerself. This is more important than preparing with food and in the little bit of time that we have left.
