Hello,(Things really got messed up!!)I'm 44 years old and I was injured three years ago at work.I really messed up my back.I had back surgery on june 10,2001.I had titanium cages installed in my back.The doctor told me I'd be fine and released me back to work in november of 2001.He sent me back on lite duty.The company let me work in the office for awhile where I could sit and move as I needed.That lasted for alittle while until about the middle of january.Then they kept giving me a hard time about having to pay me so much to sit in the office and sort invoices. So they started making me go out in the warehouse to work.I was still having alot of trouble with my back and legs.I use to drive a fork truck and pull orders and was one of their top workers until I was injured.I tried to work in the shipping area for awhile,but was still having alot of problems.I kept telling the doctor that I was still having weakness and severe pain in my lower back and legs.He told me not to worry about it and to just go back to work or they were going to fire me.So I returned to work and did the best that I could.By february 13th,2002 I just couldn't do it anymore so I had to get done.After returning several times to the doctor,he told me there was nothing else he could do.I settled with the company in july of 2004 for a small settlement because my laywer told me where I got done on my own, thats all he could get for me.Truthfully I don't think he was looking out for my best interest.Anyway what money I did get I had to pay my back child support & some student loans that I had.So the money was gone in no time.Well my wife had gotten a job for $8 dollars an hour to try and keep us going but she was let go because of a lack of work for her. I'm still having a very hard time to walk and move around most of the time.It takes me 45 minutes just to get up most mornings.And thats only if I'm able to get any sleep at night.We've both been trying to find a job,but its real hard when no one wants to hire you because you can't stand up for long or bend over or move very fast.My wifes been crying every night for the last two weeks because we have two small children.we've sold just about every thing that we own just trying to survive.I've applied for SSI but they told me that it will take aleast two years before I even find out if I can get it.We've also tried to apply for assistance,but have been told that they either don't have any money or that because I got a settlement that we don't qualify.We just don't know what to do anymore.Your two little girls 3&4 are looking that no christmas at all.Like I've said we've sold everything that we own. Its now DECEMBER 8th and we have no money at all.Its just killing me to think my children aren't go to have a christmas.My wife crys every night and we don't want to lose our children.I know we're just having a hard time right now and things will get better.The only thing we haven't loss is faith.Although even thats getting pretty hard to hold on to at this point.I HATE ASKING ANYONE FOR HELP BUT AT THIS POINT IF ANYONE AT ALL KNOWS OF AWAY TO HELP US GIVE OUR CHILDREN A CHRISTMAS I WOULD BE FOREVER GREATFUL.The registration & insurance both ran out in november and they'll be shuting off our phone by the end of the month if not before.SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE CALL ME AT (913)963-4520 AND I'D LIKE TO SAY THANK-YOU VERY MUCH AND GOD BLESS EVERYONE.
