Subject: Nissan 14 feast

79. The Time of the Easter Festival.

The council of Arles in 314 had already decreed, in its first canon, that the Christian Passover be celebrated "uno die et uno tempore per omnem orbem," and that the bishops of Rome should fix the time. But as this order was not universally obeyed, the fathers of Nicaea proposed to settle the matter, and this was the second main object of the first ecumenical council in 325. The result of the transactions on this point, the particulars of which are not known to us, does not appear in the canons (probably out of consideration for the numerous Quartodecimanians), but is doubtless preserved in the two circular letters of the council itself and the emperor Constantine. 749 The feast of the resurrection was thenceforth required to be celebrated everywhere on a Sunday, and never on the day of the Jewish passover, but always after the fourteenth of Nisan, on the Sunday after the first vernal full moon. The leading motive for this regulation was opposition to Judaism, which had dishonored the passover by the crucifixion of the Lord." We would," says the circular letter of Constantine in reference to the council of Nice, "we would have nothing in common with that most hostile people, the Jews; for we have received from the Redeemer another way of honoring God [the order of the days of the week], and harmoniously adopting this method, we would withdraw ourselves from the evil fellowship of the Jews. For what they pompously assert, is really utterly absurd: that we cannot keep this feast at all without their instruction .... It is our duty to have nothing in common with the murderers of our Lord." This bitter tone against Judaism runs through the whole letter.

This is where the Catholics started the anti-Jewish sentiment we find in the church today – They changed the dates of the feasts

Lev 23:4 "These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. 5 "In the first month (Nissan), on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the LORD'S Passover. NASU

Dan 7:25 "He (the anti-Christ) will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. NASU

Their rejection of the Jews is contrary to scriptures.- (those days are refereeing to the last days)

Zech 8:23 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, "In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."'" NASU

We see here how the Catholic Church rejecting everything Jewish invented new feasts with pagan practices which is contrary to scripture:

Lev 18:3"You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt where you lived, nor are you to do what is done in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you; you shall not walk in their statutes. 4 "You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am the LORD your God. NASU

Lev 20:23 "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them. NASU

Deut 12:30 beware that you are not ensnared to follow them (the heathen), after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, "How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?' NASU

Jer 10:2 Thus says the LORD, "Do not learn the way of the nations (heathen), and do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens although the nations are terrified by them; NASU

We can clearly see how the Catholic church changed the feast day from Nissan 14 to Ester Sunday because of their “Christ Killer” hate tread of the Jewish people YHVH chosen people – They some how must have thought that we wouldn’t know that Pontius Pilate was a Roman Gentile and it was by his word Yahsuhua was crucified.

Now, not only did the Catholics change the feast day - they changed it to an existing pagan feast day, which is clear forbidden in scripture.

The question I’m putting before us today is do we follow the Catholics in keeping a pagan feast (Easter) or do we follow scripture and keep the Nissan 14 feast.

If we can all agree that Easter is pagan and we should not kept – then we must agree that Nissan 14 should be kept – Church history puts forth only two options – scriptures only puts forth one – who is right?

Once we all come to the conclusion that we are to keep the Nissan 14 feast – we can then discuss how to keep it.
