Well, the movie is going to attract a lesbian audience, so a lot of the people who respond will be lesians, since they are the ones watching it. Also, heterosexuals watching the movie are less likely to identify with a stolen love ruined by social pressure then lesbians are, becuase lesbians are much more likely to have expereinced this.

Personally, I am a straight man and I watched it after my girlfriend sugested we watch it, and I really enjoyed it (though, as a fencer myself, I wish the fencing scenes were more realistic).

Well, being unemotional (or at least not showing emotions) is much more common with guys to the point that it's a male stereotype. I thought the movie was a great love story, regardless of gender, and I wish I were able to feel pure, beautiful love that strong, but I'm not--my ability to love is 'broken.'
