Well, if you ask me personally, this end is a bit surrealistic and open for everyone’s own interpretation. Like, you could think Paulie turns into a raptor for example.

But in the interviews with the director Léa Pool, she said "Even though Victoria will go on after Pauline’s death, there will be the question if she ever will be happy again."

So in the eyes of Léa Paulie did die in the end of L&D.
