No. It’s been a disaster, imho. I can’t recall the last effective governance here. We’ve had some admirable folk at the table, but we’ve had incompetence, nepotism and grift as well. We’ve had poor leadership within departments, with a few bright spots here and there, none without their own dirty little secrets. We’ve had shysters, liars & thieves. We’ve had good intentions, bad policy and community division. We’ve had occasional solidarity, but even that seems to be fleeting given the current climate. We have good people doing good things, and we have others who just go for self.

Politics is a dirty game. Newburgh has it's own demons. So much petty jealousy, bruised and fragile egos, using people for gain without valuing them. On and on and on. We all can only do what’s within our control. I give what I can. And I continue to hope, not for a return to what used to be but to work towards a new future for this jewel on the Hudson. I might not live to see that, but I’d like to hope others will. fin.
