In reply to: CenHudDude 's message, "Mayor’s Behavior" on Tuesday, March11, 03:09:pm

This man is an elitist, egotistical bully, and he's going to do what bullies do until someone stops ignoring his bad behavior and stands up to him.
More of this fool's craziness from the Facebook page "Living in the City of Newburgh." He's mad at criticism from the public concerning the old entrance to the pool at the rec not being saved (apparently, according to former councilman grice, it could not be saved):

Gotta say I agree with this person. This is embarrassing for the authority over this project and for Newburgh

I spent many summer days at that pool. What a shame they didn’t keep the entrance

Mxxxx Axxxx It’s probably a GOOD Idea to ASK before you ASSUME what’s going to happen!! You ALL are assuming.. you turn a great positive change in to such a NEGATIVE NARRATIVE without asking! Come to a council meeting once in a while and you can find out specifically what is going to happen! I personally invite you to ASK at our next council meeting keyboard warriors!!! Have a great day! Oh you’re welcome for getting $15 million dollars to build a state of the art aquatic center for FREE without a PENNY from tax payers money!! 💰

Moxie Mows I’m not addressing this in this forum. Visit our council meetings on the second & fourth Mondays of every month at 7pm. Furthermore we’ve been planning this aquatic center for several years and worked diligently on its planning & funding since the pandemic.. and now we are THREE Months away from cutting the ribbon on it’s opening Memorial Day weekend and now you all complain about the archway? Do you KNOW how many years I’ve taken verbal abuse for NOT having a functional public pool for residents during the sweltering heat of several summers? Do you all know how difficult & costly this endeavor has been? Again get the courage to attend our public council meetings to express your opinions and outlook on city government matters so they can be addressed by our entire government TEAM!!! Stop using social media to bash the collective work of so many people including our Governor who donate $8,000,000 to this pool in a safe swim grant. We welcome all voices and opinions at our public meetings. Oh how many of you actually live in our city? I see a few of you that live in the town not the city.

Mxxxx Axxxx I want the readers to pay particular attention to the mayor's tonality and words in his responses to the public on this subject. It is the response of a petulant child with conflict resolution issues, not that of the highest elected official. He could have just explained what happened to the pool entrance, but instead, he let his anger get the best of him and resorted to condescension and name-calling. Behavior such as this is precisely why some people do not come to the council meetings.
Dxxxx Fxxxx
as Jxxxx Gxxxx said: "N lemme guess council meeting so u can kick em out when u dont agree"-- or threaten their jobs if they are city employees.

Pause. This post is from a passerby who, for whatever reason, did not know that the entry way was unsafe and could not be saved, or it would have been, and that permission from the necessary agencies was given to tear it down. The plan is to build a new entryway. Nobody wanted to just tear the old one down. Why waste time and money on that, plus the historic significance.
The pool was shutdown due to years of neglect by previous administrations before 2018, then given a band aid fix. After a survey and careful planning, the city will have a year round facility along with a better handicap accessible pool with a water pad area. All without direct costs to property taxes.

Anthony Grice thank you for providing a real explanation, rather than a non answer in an accusatory tone.

appreciate the explanation Anthony Grice, I think the reason so many were surprised by the sudden change is that it had been communicated in the past that the entryway would indeed be preserved to provide a connection to the past with the new pool. C'est la vie, we get that not everything can remain, but the sudden change leads to disappointment. I think people will appreciate the new pool, but I agree with the crowd that it would have been better if the community had been given a voice, perhaps we could have had a campaign to find a way to stabilize it.

B Hxxxx the plan was to try to preserve it, but unfortunately, due to a lack of maintenance for at least a decade prior to 2018, it could not be. It does remind me of a few buildings that have fallen, or may be in jeopardy, to the same fate. What I asked for before is that the public get monthly updates for significant projects.

Apparently, Mayor Torrance Harvey has blocked me, so he will not see my response to the comment he (allegedly, because I cannot see it) posted:
The mayor has outreach problems.
If he’s truly concerned about actions that are based in widespread community support, he needs to scan the entire topology of the communication landscape for feedback.
