...and/or due to the recent change in NYS STAR exemption which, depending on household income (the state keeps lowering the threshold), would see homeowners receiving a check rather than an exemption. Where as the latter is taken off the top of the tax bill (lowering escrow amounts), the former requires payment in full to be reimbursed via a check. That said, this only changes the means to not the end net amount due. fyi, Changes were made as well in 2019 to the Enhanced STAR Exemption requirements in order to receive the reduction.
