The further away the better. Just make sure you have a source of income or the potential for a job so you can survive. Also note that it does not have to be perfect : I know you have your problems but just do it anyway. It wasn't perfect for me, but it still worked. It will take time to resolve your rage issue, but that does not matter either : all that matters is that you move in the right direction.
