Subject: Cook Islands media inquiry re editor resignation?

Kia orana Phil,

Thanks for your response. No one is obliged to speak to the media of course! But I would be interested in your comments on whether the news media has a higher obligation to comment publicly when questioned since that is what they ask and encourage others to do every day.

Thanks for your patience,

Jason

Jason,

I have no comment to make on Moana's resignation. The matter has been closed for six months and we now have a new editor who started work this week. You can read about him in a forthcoming issue of Cook islands News.

Phil Evans

Dear Editor,

Please find below some questions regarding the resignation of former editor Moana Moeka'a. As you will be aware from Pacific Media Watch, I have been doing several stories on the Pitt Media Group.

In the interests of fairness, and in terms of it being a bona fide news story, I would appreciate any response you may wish to make.

Questions as follows:

1. What reasons did Moana Moeka'a give for resigning from the daily Cook Islands News?

2. What concerns does his resignation raise for the daily?

3. Does the daily accept his reasons for resignation?

Many thanks,

jason
