Subject: re: 5106 TONGA: Newspaper publisher raps media role over riot

Greetings,

How are you? Thank you for the important reporting that you have conducted
on issues pertaining to the kingdom of Tonga. I am a Tongan American
student and activist.
I am concerned about why Kalafi Moala is still seen as a credible reporter
by your organization when he has clearly defined that his political
alliances are not with the Tongan people. At this historical trajectory,
Moala's new governmental post reflects that his political alliances are
with the Tongan government and the Tongan elite. He is what many of us in
Tonga and here in the United States would call a "sell out."
Why should Kalafi Moala's opinions be included in a progressive and
left-leaning media watch like "Asia-Pacific Network"? His sentiments can
be found in any mainstream and Tongan government website. Furthermore, his
contributions are antagonistic to the liberatory and peace-keeping work
that many courageous Tongan activists in Tonga and in the diaspora are
conducting. I hope that you might reconsider including Moala in these
progressive discussions.

Thank you very much for your time.

Respectfully

Fuifuilupe
