Subject: Commonwealth media executives for Fiji

CBA Press release

More than 250 media executives from around the Commonwealth gather in Nadi, Fiji on Monday (Feb 16) for a four day conference.

The focus of this year's Commonwealth Broadcasters Association General Conference will be The Next Generation In Programmes, Management, Technology.

Intensive daily programmes will concentrate on how broadcasters can improve their products, organisations and themselves.

The ABC's Head of Performance Management, Andrew Cavenett, will address delegates on Key Performance Indicators for All as Commonwealth broadcasters
strive to raise standards for workers and viewers or listeners.

A session on broadcasting guidelines will help raise broadcasting ethics, especially in smaller, developing countries wher broadcasters come under immense
pressure from the political opposition, governments and consumer organisations.

Most sessions involve the delegates working with each other through challenges they face daily.

The conference will be opened by Fiji's Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase at the Sheraton Resort on Denarau Island, Nadi. This will be followed by an address by Joel Kibazo, Director of the Communications and
Public Affairs Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
