Subject: One of the crew of H.M.H.S. "Britannic"

I thought that you may be interested in the fact that my maternal grandfather was Master-at-Arms on the "Britannic" for the whole of her short life.
I never knew him as he died long before I was born. However, I do have a small photograph of hin surrounded by his WWI medals, including the Agean Star. All are in a Victorian picture frame. I also have a single White Star uniform button (brass) off his uniform
Of more interest, his only surviving daughter lives in the States and I believe she has material relevant to her father forwarded to her by his daughter on the death of her father. What the material is I do not know.
The name of the Master-at-Arms was James A. Milne who had two sons and four daughters. The youngest son. John A. Milne went down with the m/v "Empire Comet" as did all hands, when she was torpedoed by U-136 in the North-Western Approaches on 17 February 1942.
If I can be of further help do not hesitate to e-mail me.
All the best
Ian G. Hughes.
