Subject: I need a Stripper

My Hubby left today today for Las Vegas with several business associates to attend the International Builders' show. Business trip or golf vacation??? He says it is business but I think they all took their golf clubs.
Anyways, I have been threatening him with the "While you were out" TV show for the past month. He wasn't even past the end of the driveway when I started stripping the wallpaper from the kitchen/diningroom. It is coming off in small pieces and seems to be taking forever. Does anyone have any ideas of how to make stripping wallpaper easier? I have a couple girlfriends coming over on the weekend to help paint. No more faux finishes and wallpaper for me!

Help... Hubby is gone and I need a stripper!

This is nasty, but it works. Vinegar. I don't remember what the exact measurements are, but a vinegar and water in a spray bottle works well. You have to let it sit for a bit and yet, it stinks. It works though.

You can also rent a steamer. That's a lot easier and gets rid of that nasty aroma.

Well we have plenty here in Vegas, Kaan, but not the type you want. Sorry, I've never taken off wallpaper in my life so I can't help ya.

They make a special spray to remove wallpaper...can't remember the name but it's blue and has the consistancy of jello.

Make small incisions in the paper with a special circular cutter designed for wallpaper removal and spary with the remover it's messy but it comes right off.

and here is another great guide:

dayum... I was going to come over if you'd found a stripper-stripper...

hmmmm... there is that stuff that PMD said (the blue stuff)..

best thing is steam.. lotsa steam! rent a steamer, Kaan. They are inexpensive and do the work for you. The wallpaper will slide right off if you wet it enough...

hmmmmmmm... this conversation seems a little "dirty" eh?

lmao!

Thanks Rose, I used the vinegar & warm water. It worked although it isn't a fun project. Couldn't go out and get a steamer at night. The wallpaper is all off and now I just have to fill the nail holes and such.

Don't think I am going to change jobs anytime soon. Being a stripper is hard work! LOL

Thanks Laney & Caro for your humour and Herb for your ideas.

That's great. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Think you'll get it all done by the time he gets back?

I've never been good with that sort of stuff.
